They are catching up to what is real. I had more but sadly they were lost when the boat sank.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Maybe the Post can look up "Field of Fire" to understand why this average is a good thing or why two or more armed people may be needed for defense.Comment

I like this line from the article:
"If the survey data from Gallup and the General Social Survey are to be believed..."
The author is aware of the high percentage of Calgunners who lost their firearms in a boating accident?

Yes, but consider the alternative. The more people others know with guns the more "normal" it seems. It's just like the gay issue. Until people all over started coming out, no one knew any gays and therefore they were "abnormal" and "scary". If we hide "in the closet" as it were, we will always be ostracized and feared.Comment

Makes sense what you're saying. About 12 years ago before I got into firearms, bunch of us were hanging out and topic of guns came up. This guy in his mid 30's said he had something like 3 AR-15s, couple of shotguns, and few handguns. He had bought extras before the Clinton assault weapons ban was enacted and was now looking to unload them.Yes, but consider the alternative. The more people others know with guns the more "normal" it seems. It's just like the gay issue. Until people all over started coming out, no one knew any gays and therefore they were "abnormal" and "scary". If we hide "in the closet" as it were, we will always be ostracized and feared.
I've shot 22 and 9mm pistols and shotgun when I was in JR High one time. And I really didn't think about the 2A issue at all, but when I heard he had "that many ARs", I thought this guy was nuts!
But I watch movies. I wanted to shoot those cool guns. He offered to take me shooting and I said, "Cool, I've always wanted to shoot an assault weapon!"
Ahhh, the ignorance...
One more story.
My wife's gossipy co-worker dude came up to her and another co-worker and with giddy excitement squealed, "Hey, I heard your brother owns a gun!! That's just so weird!"
And then my wife's co-worker, without missing a beat, replied, "What's so weird about that? My family used to go shooting all the time."
And my wife followed with, "So? We own some guns."
That took the wind out of his sail.
So the moral of the story is, ignorance fuels fear. The more guns are talked about the less it becomes taboo.Last edited by Wordupmybrotha; 11-17-2015, 2:58 PM.Comment
