Need opinion on Smith & Wesson Shield

You gotta be kidding me right?7.5 yd and this mess..I'm talking about 15 yd which I couldn't shoot where I aim and guess what when I shoot my LCP which is smaller it was alot better than the shield not mention better in conceal as well.

Glad to hear that you're a better shot than me faris. I was pretty happy with my results considering I had been shooting about 3 months.

Slayer there are a quite a few threads on other forums about the sights being off from the factory. I am sure the gun itself is accurate assuming the sights are aligned correctly. I cant even get it on paper half the time and I am not a half bad shooter.

Will update after I adjust the sights.

I have owned and shot both 40 and 9 versions a lot. Sold the 40. I am much more proficient with the 9. I was anticipating the recoil too much with 40. I recommend the 9.

Thanks , I been shooting since I was very young but for 3 months and your target it's awesome actually not mention it's a small pistol but just like the other said it is my pistol has the sight off from factory so I blame it on the shield because I didn't know there are some shield sights came off from the factory.Enjoy shooting it and stay safe.

Got 9mm shield though maybe revolver better for me

I got 9mm Shield recently and wish I had actually handled one in a store before buying it. It seems too heavy for me. I find it requires a lot of muscle to pull the slide back. And I don't have muscle or finger strength to load either magazine that came with it beyond three. Did some web research and found complaints about what one critic calls the "10,000 lb spring". Wrote S&W co., using their online email form, about the tough spring ten days ago and got no reply back. I seriously debated returning the gun to Impact and exchanging for a revolver, which seems a much easier gun for a man with weak hands like myself. Further research shows some guys using a mag loader to fill this gun's mags painlessly, and Youtube has demos, so I ordered one called Maglula. The loaded chamber indicator on top a nuisance though a safety feature. It esthetically breaks the top line of the gun. I may not get to shoot mine till new year when I take a class. I worry that I may end up selling it to get a light weight, easy to load ugly revolver. Since prices mentioned above, I bought it from Impact at $412 in early Oct 2015. Look on S&W web for "Important Consumer Safety Alert" on recent Shields ("All M&P Shield firearms manufactured before Aug 19, 2013").

Small light weight revolvers are not easy to shoot. The sight radius is still a problem. And for every ounce you shave in weight, you pay for in recoil.
They are easier to load though

For the job the shield is accurate to do it.

Thinking about picking up a 9mm for future carry. Would modifying the LCI be a no no under the terms of ccw? I'm thinking it would be a no no and that's what is keeping me from getting one.

Depends on the IA. And state law says all restrictions must be printed on the physical CCW.

I have a shield, EMP, and defender for carry. The shield is the least accurate, but also the least expensive and the thinnest out of all of those. I'd also say it shoots well enough for a CCW gun, seeing as how you're not going to have to shoot very far if you do have to use it.

8M: restrictions by act possessing an altered weapon from its originally approved design.

It's so broad that it's making me interpret it as any kind of changes to the weapon is restricted.
