Don't see anything wrong and have nothing to complain about. This site reflects society in general. People who are nostalgic for the good 'ole days forget to smell today's roses.

Sheesh, I remember back in the IRC days, if a channel op even thought you were being snarky, they'd K-line you, give you viruses and ban your I.P. across multiple channels.

      You youngins have no clue!

Don't even get me started about the 14.4 baud dial up BBS days!

I've been here for less than 2 years, so I can't relate on the Good Ole Days.

IMO, I think there are a handful of people that should refrain from jumping on a new member for asking a question that's probably been asked 1,000 times. Either ignore their post, or provide the answer. There's no need to bash them or look down on them for asking. We all started somewhere.

There's B.O.L.L. (Before Off List Lowers) beginning of CGN from founder Ramon in 2003 to late 2005 and A.O.L.L. (After Off List Lowers) 2006 on -- eras of Calguns.

It used to be all about R.A.W.s, Mini-14s, SKSs, 10/22s, sealed mag well ARs and Bolt-Actions before the O.L.L. floodgates opened.

Yeah I miss the good old days. A lot of the old members left. Been a little dull lately. Even some of my friends have drifted away from here.

Believe it or not, DOJ sent me to CG's ~ Back in '05 I heard or read something about a CA legal AK, called DOJ to ask what this was all about and was told (paraphrasing) "we're not sure of the legality but there is a website called Calguns that might have some information"

Yeah, I strongly agree with OP... I took a hiatus for a couple years, jumped on and posted randomly to show something that caught my eye, and dudes were just all over the place about it. Kind of turned me off to coming back, but every now and then I'll drop in.

Learned a lot from guys on here back in the day, I think just the widespread use of internet and social media makes everyone feel so entitled even when they have nothing to offer. The over saturation of gun "experts" and "instructors" on youtube isn't helping either!

I've only been here for two years and I really haven't seen a big change in that time frame. But I will say that this probably happens on any forum that grows over the years.

I say this because I have been a member on a completely different type of forum since 2001. 14 years later the same forum is completely different in how people communicate to each other compared to 2001. Back then the membership was approximately 1000 or less. Now it's over 250,000.

I don't believe that Calguns is any worse than before except that the membership has grown and of course more people participate including myself. Because of this you will see and experience more opinions and sometimes emotions than in the past.

Overall I believe it's still a positive environment provided that the vision remains as it was when the site was created. My .02
