44 Rimfire. I got one from a friend. Apparently they were used in early Derringers.
I think it was a Wiki post saying they would bounce off trees.
Mine is not the Henry rifle version, it is quite a bit shorter.

      I've got two for you.

      12mm Galand
      and the winner- 7mm Galand.

I have one round of each- they have a weird fat belt at the base which is almost impossible to duplicate. Then you'd have to find projectiles and load in black powder.

Most everything else can be fabricated or reloaded with relative ease. 8x56r is a nice easy cartridge to load for

        38 Colt New Police.
Same as 38 S&W. I think smokeless and a particular bullet profile are the differences.
38 S&W (38 COLT NEW POLICE) Field Proven pistol and handgun ammo. Maximum firepower bullets. Best ammunition for pistols and handguns for sale. Buffalo Bore. Strictly big bore. Strictly Business.

I have a Steyr M95 I got from Big 5. 8x56r, never fired it cause I couldn't find ammo newer than 80 years old. It's currently stored next to my next unfired gun....

French MAS-49, 7.5x54mm caliber aka unobtanium. This rifle looks brand new, can't find ammo.

Bought a Glock 37 (.45GAP) when it first came out. Shot it a few times, but ammo availability lead me to sell it.

Both the Steyr and the MAS ammo are available.

Holy crap, I stored these 12 years ago. I guess I'll buy some ammo and dig em up.

I have a Dan Wesson Maxi Mag. Very nice gun, when locked in is capable of 2" groupings at 100 yards. Ammo difficult but not impossible to find.

I saw both 25-20 and 357 max on store shelves this weekend. You have to put in the effort to look. Or go on Gunbroker. You will pay dearly.

I don't have one but I saw a Winchester model 4 on gunbroker that takes 22 extra long. It is longer than a 22 LR. And goes back to the 1800's. They had 22 short, 22 long, and 22 extra long. Then they made the 22 long rifle which was in between the long and extra long.

Not an obscure caliber but an obscure gauge. I have an Iver Johnson 32 gauge single shot shotgun and a case of Fiocchi shells to go with it.

Maybe not real obscure but seldom owned by folks I know is .17 wsm. I go to the local Wally and peruse the ammo lockup and the same 10 boxes of .17 wsm has been sitting in there for years.
