Somewhat related, if anyone has Instagram follow roundoftheday on there. Most everyday there's a new caliber with info on the round posted. Definitely a good/interesting page and you learn a lot a about interesting and obscure calibers.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned a Jyro Jet, Tround, 56-50 Spencer or a Maynard round yet.

Interesting concept. Anyone have any more info this? Doesn't seem like there was any advantage to replacing the mechanical trigger with an electrical system though. I'm not sure I buy remington's description.

It could work, as it involves less ignition time. Ammo availability was a huge problem, and tthe primers are expensive. It also used a 9 volt batt which didn't do well in the cold. It also needed a 'key' to become operational. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...-not-lamented/ http://www.popularmechanics.com/tech.../a211/1277311/

Lock time and not having to put too much pressure on a trigger (which could cause the gun to move while the trigger is being depressed) are two viable reasons. I knew someone who was playing with the idea of a remote electronic trigger back in the 80's.

If it is .246 Purdy, there is ammo to be had, but it is running approx. $100.00/round.

If anyone needs Etronx primers I'd work you a deal on some. I sometimes still see 307 Win sitting getting dusty on a gunshop shelf. I knew a shop that had some 8mm Rast Gasser ammo.

Reloaded some 43 spanish with a buddy of mine for an old rolling block rifle. Pretty unique round.

A lot of the cartridges they have brought out in the last two or three decades are going to be soon obsolete. They really went overboard with new designs that didn't really do anything the older cartridges didn't already do.
