        Pullnshoot,

I would escalate it. Go to the police and file a complaint against the guards, the guard company and the mall for unlawful detainment.

That's fine, it's private property and they have the right to set the rules as they see fit. However... that does not include "arresting" someone for breaking a rule. You cannot arrest people for that, only for breaking the law. Calling them idiot mall ninjas fits, IMO, because they illegally detained a law-abiding free man.
You see. You missed it. He was not acting as a "law-abiding free man." He was acting with ignorance with respect to the mall's prohibition regarding firearms on its premises. He admitted his ignorance as well. What does the law say about ignorance? Right, it's no defense whatsoever.

As to your other points, I'm not going to respond. As they make no difference after the fact.

And as to whether I've drunk too much of the "'GUNS R 4 COPZ' koolaid," where do you figure that?

What happened to Pullnshoot is small potatoes with what happened to me a few months ago. I was not only detained, I was thoroughly checked out by some real cops. You know, the ones with real bullets in their handguns and badges and training that make them authorized and certified policemen in California? I was at a private venue and surrounded by about 3,000 peace officers. My DL was demanded by a police sergeant with a SWAT badge on his chest. And I yielded it. My name was run through CLETS. Did Pullnshoot get that nice little attention? No, of course not. He was dealing with mall security.

And you know what? I didn't even have a handgun on me. Two knives, yes, but then again, I wasn't searched or handcuffed either. Nor was I guilty, as Pullnshoot was, of committing a violation.

As with this thread, I'm done with it. Catch you somewhere else!

And yet, he didn't break a single law. What's that mean? Oh, yeah. That it's illegal for mall security to detain him. Again, they were within their rights to ask him to leave; to ask him to leave the gun in his car or at home; or to ban him for life. They were far, far outside their rights to detain him.

Because you said that the only people who should be carrying guns in the mall are cops.

Nor should he have. He violated no laws. In fact, he was a victim of criminal behavior. And what does your situation have to do with anything in this thread? I'd have to go with nothing.

And what was Pullnshoot's violation? Of a mall rule? Ooo, no. Better let mall security illegally detain him for that!

And exactly why were police hassling you? Did you forget to bring the doughnuts?
