[QUOTE=hawk1;1765041]I feel for your loss, but come on. 18 years and you never got around to buying a real safe? In Oakland no less...
[QUOTE]
EXACTLY !!!!
I totally feel for you. BUT with the kind of collection you had, you SHOULD've bought a safe. A resonable one, non-fire rated would be just a couple of hundred dollars. My friend had one for about $150. It was bolted to the wall, and you couldn't open it without a key. More Safety that way...
I suggest before you by ANY gun now, get a safe first.
BTW, wouldn't your home insurance pay for the stolen items... to a certain extent I would think... ?Comment

Again, do you seriously think prompt attention would have increased the odds of finding a suspect? Please explain how.
Apparently you don't have a clue what "immediate call for service" means. Red herring logical fallicies don't help either.generating rev by handing out parking tickets is probably more important.
No. A lot of the attitudes here are along the lines of if someone does not try to prevent a problem, then they share the blame when something bad happens. A person who sustains a head injury in a motorcycle accident isn't going to get any sympathy from me if he chose not to wear a helmet, regardless of who caused the accident.i do think a lot of the atttitudes here are along the lines of calling the woman that gets raped a slut, she never should have worn that dress!Comment

not looking for ANY sympathy from u ryang.,..,just letting folks know what to look out for .,.,.,never said pompt response would find anyone quicker.,.,did think they would want a comprehensive list of what they would be face to face with later.,.,.,also thought they would speak with neighbors and make an attempt to fingerprint.,more than the 3 ,6inch by 6inch areas they printed,.,.,how do u reach the keyboard from your highhorse anyway?lost all my firearms in a boating accident.

also suprised to get several calls by uc police sergent asking why he couldnt find seriel numbers for my ar and sks.,..said i was in danger of beeing charged with a felony for owning unregistered weapons./,.,.,maybe because they arent registered assault weapons.,.,.,several 30 rnd mags were left laying around the room and never once did the investigating officer pick one up to see if it was marked LE ONLY.,.,. just seemed sloppy to meLast edited by kmk; 12-09-2008, 3:09 PM.lost all my firearms in a boating accident.

There is nothing Illegal about owning LE ONLY marked magazinesalso suprised to get several calls by uc police sergent asking why he could find seriel numbers for my ar and sks.,..,maybe because they arent registered assault weapons.,.,.,several 30 rnd mags were left laying around the room and never once did the investigating officer pick one up to see if it was marked LE ONLY.,.,. just seemed sloppy to me"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas JeffersonComment

oh crud...sorry to hear =(
its ridiculous that they said they were reporting murders in oakland..the union city cops are nearly 20-30 mins out from west oakland/international...and would have no business being out there....
blhe either way...i'm sorry for the loss....and i hope your dog is ok....but glad no one else got hurt....Comment

alright...checked with my friend...there were some other factors on top of getting the guns stolen which put his father in that situation...this might actually have some credence..because of the large amount of lost firearms...my friends father in santa cruz ran into an issue like that...I totally forgot about it until squid mentioned it...hope that isn't the case...that would suck big time...plus...the people who stole your stuff know you are gonna replenish eventually and they might wait for that...
...so not being able to pass a DROS shouldn't be an issue in your case...

That's horrible. Looks like UCPD is behind the curve about OLLs and needs to be educated. Somebody fax them the AW chart please.also suprised to get several calls by uc police sergent asking why he couldnt find seriel numbers for my ar and sks.,..said i was in danger of beeing charged with a felony for owning unregistered weapons./,.,.,maybe because they arent registered assault weapons.,.,.,several 30 rnd mags were left laying around the room and never once did the investigating officer pick one up to see if it was marked LE ONLY.,.,. just seemed sloppy to mesigpicComment

[QUOTE=oddball;1767899]
. And it's the criminals that essentially create the whole mess of bad PR regarding firearms and the general public. Bad guys usually do not buy guns, they get them from us.[./QUOTE]
True but the criminals who steal guns from homes aren't the ones responsible for the "whole mess of bad PR". The criminals responsible for that are in public office, and like the street criminals, they don't buy guns they get them from us.
It's a sick symbiosis of the low and high level crooks of our society. It's a good time to be a bad guy.Comment

Hilarious! Also, I would put off posting for quite some time. Now that you've just had a whole stash of fail unleashed by you, I don't even think you are gonna be able to post anymore. The CalGuns community is gonna know about your stash of fail and that it is out on the forum. You will NOT pass the credibility test on any future posts, possibly for the rest of your life. I am sorry to say, but the CalGuns community and public at large is not gonna take this lightly like the stupid Sheriffs who dusted for evidence of fail, you didn't mention if they did or not.
