How to paranoid people like you even function? Your doctor is the person you have chosen to trust with the handling of your genitals and inspection of your prostate. Yet you think when he/she asks about guns they are furthering some shadowy government agenda?

A lot of people die every year from guns. Many people suffer adverse health conditions due to lead exposure. Pretending that gun ownership and use doesn't come with health risks is just plain ignorant. They also ask if you smoke, if you drink alcohol, how many hot dogs you eat in a week...

I don't believe its a government agenda - it's a liability thing. If you express that you're depressed and you've ever considered hurting yourself, the doctor's office would then make the call.

During a checkup, my pediatrician asked my daughter if your daddy and mommy own any guns. She answered yes. The pediatrician turned around and asked me are they in the safe. I answered yes.

I don't believe its a government agenda - it's a liability thing. If you express that you're depressed and you've ever considered hurting yourself, the doctor's office would then make the call.

And they should make the call. If you are having a rough time enough to seek professional mental health and take mind altering medication for the problem perhaps you should consider having a friend or family member hold on to them for you.

The irony here is that your wife or girlfriend has certainly been asked if you PIIHB by their doctor.

My Dr of 12 yrs, asked me to recommend a handgun for his self defense. He then had me guide him in applying for a CCW.

He knows I am a LEO.

I talk to my doctor about my hunting trips and any injuries and such. I usually bring a hunting/gun mag with me to the office to read while waiting. Not a problem.

HOWEVER: When my daughter was very young and had some illness we took her to a new doctor. When he and the nurse asked about having guns I asked him if he was banging his nurse and if so did his wife know? They both got ruffled and told me that was not appropriate and I told him their question was also not appropriate since it was a ear type thing with my daughter and not their concern about our home.
We never went back and found a good doctor to put tubes into her ears that did not ask stupid questions. Years later she told him about going hunting with me
