Vp9 + light

I've never owned a light for a firearm and was thinking of getting a light for my bedside vp9....mainly a stream light tlr-1 due to the $100 price. It's seems it'll stick past the muzzle but that'll be something I have to get used to. Any thoughts on this setup? I've used a friend's glock with this light while camping and I liked it then.

Do it, a light source is a huge advantage and stream light is good. No downsides here.

I have a TLR-1 on my VP9 and it works great. No downside to it that I've found.

Same combo here as well. Plenty of range time with the light on. The light does require some cleaning after a while but this should be expected. Otherwise no issues to report!

I guess the main question now is do I spend $20 or so extra for the HL version? My concern is that it might be TOO bright inside the house.

The best bang for your buck is gonna be the Streamlight, I got the one with the strobe.

If you wanna go tacticool operator you can get the Inforce or Surefire lights.

I'm a fan of more light, although others will tell you "but you tacticals blinded now!"

Lumens don't translate to candela, and 500 lumens from one light wont equal 500 lumens from another.

I've tested my surefire x300 in a completely dark room, standing a foot or so away from a brilliant white wall (I bought the whitest paint possible...) and hit the light to see how blinding it would be. It really wasn't, less than a second for eyes to adjust, no worse than regular flashlight, and I wasn't incapacitated or blinded.

I'd take a light with the power of the sun if I could.

I have the TLR-1 HL on my M9A1 and love it.

Rocking a TLR 1 on Glock 17 HD and 23 for Back up. And I have a X300 on a MP next to me right now.

I recommend the tlr-3.

Maybe you guys have dead batteries or something. The tlr3 is enough to wash out my vision if it's directed at a wall or such too close. It's enough to give a hefty spot and night-blind across my apartment...

Tlr-1 as a shotgun or rifle light, definitely. As a pistol light, not so much.

I've never used the HL version, but I have 2 of the standard ones and they are plenty bright.

I ended up ordering the tlr-1 HL version for the handgun. IF it's too bright I'll throw it on the shotgun or AR and look at the standard model or maybe a TLR-3
