Agreed. He was at least as big a moron, but was also 71, retired for about 20 years and likely suffering from on-coming Alzheimers and diminished capacity. Before someone (we all know who) makes a statement, that civilians shouldn't be trusted with CCW, I want to point out that the retired cop Curtis Reeves was even bigger moron than those drivers

Definately a couple of stupid a-holes. Now one dead and the other on the way to prison (probably). Nobody wins.
And I gotta say, c'mon Florida! WTF?!?
Sorry, not sorry.

I think it's fairly obvious that Doyle was itching for a fight and probably didn't do too much to de-escalate the situation based on his comments about the guns being locked and loaded, and the guns already being out for when he got to his house.
Unfortunately I think this is a situation where someone with the wrong kind of mindset had a CCW. I know you guys are going to freak out when I say this, but some people shouldn't have CCWs. But, while its not a perfect system, shall-issue seems to be the best system.
What I'm really interested in is how the fact that Doyle initially started the road rage incident plays into his culpability. I don't know if they'll treat the shooting and the road rage as 2 separate events or 1 event where Doyle was the first aggressor, so he loses the moral high ground to use lethal force. If you are wondering if you can get a LTC in Riverside County: THE ANSWER IS YES!

"Don't shoot. I've got 911 on the phone," she yelled...
Dispatch should have Face Time. That way the wife could have pointed the phone at the suspected assailant. The dispatcher could have looked right at him, and ordered him to "Cease Assailing. Stand fast. I can see you and if you do not follow my instructions, I will allow the other party to perforate you repeatedly with his authorized, now-unconcealed handgun."Comment

You'd use deadly force on an unarmed person to avoid what appeared to be either a yelling match, or at most a fist fight? The two guys involved were of similar age. Unless you're already injured and afraid of losing your firearm (you're fighting over it) to a much larger and younger/more fit man, you're going to jail almost overtime. Your defense of "fearing for your life" or fantasy of defending your family under the same circumstances would not be justified in any state, let alone uber liberal-gun hating Cali.
A firearm is not a substitute for being a normal man.Comment

The article doesn't say if it happened on Doyle's property or not. I also believe, you wouldn't hold a widow at the gunpoint. He is f*cking lucky she didn't have a gun. Otherwise, she'd have all the right to kill him on the spot. Her life was really in danger.Comment

You're right. We're all tough guys here. Lead him directly to your house, that way he knows where you live, where you keep your stuff, where your family sleeps, all kinds of useless information.
Never lead trouble home. It's your most basic duty as a father and husband. Keep them safe.
It's got zero to do with needing the police to handle it.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Hey, you can't say that any longer in CA - it's chauvinist. A side effect of all the forced "equality" is that the guy can say he "felt effeminate and against physical violence" therefore he felt "threatened." Good luck with DA trying to invoke the "man card" argument.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

Very interested to hear the 911 tapes.
First, if you follow me home, I am likely to greet you with a firearm on exiting my vehicle, ESPECIALLY if my family is with me . And who wouldnt? Following the guy home was a dumbass thing to do and shows who was the aggressor.
Second, I am going to believe the following driver got out of his car in a threatening manner. Again, not a bright thing to do.
You know why he did? Because we are becoming conditioned to believe you can do stupid things like follow a man and his family home and approach with aggression and not get shot.
ETA: The wifes statement doesnt hold water either, if the guy just wanted his address then why not just drive by? Or for that matter why not just take the guys tag number and let the police handle it. The following driver wanted to whoop this guys ***, and got shot for it. Play stupid games...Originally posted by 2meterBRun away! Don't forget your molon Labe stickers.Comment
