Avoid using uber and lyft if you can

NEW YORK (AP) -- Ride-hailing app company Uber says it is banning its riders and drivers from carrying guns.

Uber Technologies says it is banning firearms of any kind during rides arranged through the Uber platform, and drivers or riders who violate the rule may lose access to the platform. The rules also apply to Uber's affiliates.

The company said Friday it changed its firearms policy on June 10 to make sure riders and drivers feel comfortable.

Nothings handier than Uber for a guy like me sometimes. Average 2-3 min pickup at my door & half the price of a taxi. I don't need to bother a friend or call a grumpy relative, it's far too simple. They could be anti gun too, don't mean I need to agree, or have a gun on my person.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

Havn't heard a peep about this on LameSM.

In April, an Uber driver with a concealed-carry permit shot a 22-year-old man who had opened fire on a group of pedestrians in Chicago. Court records say the man was shooting at pedestrians who were walking in front of the Uber driver's vehicle, and the driver shot the gunman. The driver wasn't charged, as prosecutors said he acted in defense of himself and others.
            Sorry, not sorry.

Same here. Hell for a $40 cab ride lyft will be about $10-15.

I know a guy that drives Uber for extra $. I don't think he fallows the company policy himself.

I'll be calling Uber in about 3 hrs for a ride to a car show. Strapped.

If a law (rule) is unjust, man has the duty to ignore it like everything else people from San Fran blab on about hahaha

Makes me want to start a company like paypal, square, ebay, amazon, uber, lyft that are all pro 2a... hell I'll start a tesla company and include holsters in the glove box hahaha

The hell is wrong with folks where they actively have to attack an enumerated right... just makes me sad

                      Concealed means concealed...

I am certain if concealed ever needs to become 'unconcealed' it would have been important enough to get 'banned' from the service.

I don't disagree. I'm simply bringing it to people's attention in case they can avoid using a company that is blantantly and illogically anti gun (this rule came about as a result of the Chicago driver who stopped a psycho from shooting innocent people. Think about that). It's just a suggestion. Avoid them if you can. If you can't, no big deal

Oddly, Uber is arguing in court that its drivers are independent contractors. If that's so, exactly how would they enforce such a rule?

ICs still need to follow the rules of the contract.
