I think the best bet might be a "deterrent." Deer can be a gigantic pain in the rear, and fencing is a good first step if it is feasible. I've heard that a 12 gauge loaded up with rubber buck can also serve as a potential deterrent if all else fails.

Any animals taken under a depradation permit are the property of the state unless the officer allows the permittee to keep for personal use. Don't think that you can get some pork or venison by using a depradation permit. Also you cannot strike an animal with anything not paintballs or rubber bullets. That is hunting or willfully injuring animals. Dumb idea.

It's an un-occupied property. Sounds like basically an open space.

*And to be clear: This is not one of those "my friend was asking" roundabout ways to ask for myself. If it was my property, I would have handled it one way or another. And for starters, I don't like Olive trees.
