Just make sure to trade your 10 round mags for the NY-required 7 round mags.

    Kidding! (well, half-kidding)

The Kingdom of Bloomberg and Jewish Bankers. Good luck.

During the revolutionary war, New York was a bastion of loyalty to the crown.

They have always loved their fascism and secretly hated freedom.

I have yet to meet a native New Yorker who wasn't a complete A-hole. I've met thousands....

The opposite of people from Wisconsin or Minnesota who are very kind and respectful.

Also, they tend to be VERY racist. I witnessed much more racism in NYC more than anywhere in the country, including the South.

NYC needs to be nuked IMO.

Unless things have changed dramatically in the last 5 years, for the majority of NY the rules are thus:

multiple types of permits: hunting only, home only, employment only, and unrestricted concealed carry. Basically meaning that with the home only permit, you can have a pistol, but you have to keep it at home, you can take it to the range, but no where else, same with the hunting and employment only ones.

You have to apply for your permit in the county that you reside, and you can only buy pistols in that county. For example, I first got my permit in Syracuse, but by the time it was actually approved, I was back in college, in Chautauqua County, south of Buffalo, I had to drive all the way over to Syracuse to pick up my permit, and because I could only buy pistols in Onondaga County (Syracuse) and I didn't want to make multiple trips out there, I went to the sheriffs office, picked up my permit, went to Gander Mountain, purchased my pistol, drove back to the Sheriff's office to have the pistol put onto my permit, drove back to the store to take possession of the handgun, and then drove home.

But given all that, the Sheriffs office people were very friendly and helpful, same with Chautauqua County, not so much Erie though.

Plus almost every single Sheriff in upstate NY have said they refuse to enforce the "SAFE Act" BS, my cousin is a deputy and was told that if anyone tries to enforce that law that they will be fired.
        Wow what giant PITA

Sorry to hear about that. You going to be anywhere near the PA border where you can have someone hold them for you like a friend of relative ( legally)

On your trip enroute to New York, plan a layover in Texas. Stay. Keep all your guns.

I have relatives in upstate New York. Beautiful place no doubt, but one of the most antagonistic states toward gun owners.

New York is much like California anymore - just with really horrid weather 7 months of the year. I find the only thing I like about NY concerning firearms is Gordon Eck. And I wish he'd move.

That's a helluva statement. Native new yorker here. Not racist and more friendly back east than most of the places I've been here in California. At least people greet you and say good morning, please, thank you, etc. Here they look you in the eye and keep on walking.

The biggest difference you will notice depend on that part of CA you are from and NY you are heading to is that there are not as many mexicans. Lots of latinos of Puerto Rican decent in and near the cities.

You can find a good Cuban Sandwich, but decent mexican food will be hard to find it can be done though.

Pizza and italian food is really good

Having grown up in Connecticut and lived in California for many years

East Coast (NY) knows how to do Pizza and Bagels

West Coast (CA) knows how to do sushi and fish tacos

Go to New Mexico for Mexican food.

I feel you. My Poly Tech AK/S 47 stayed in Oregon with my son when I moved back here.

I have never been to new mexico before, but if I do I will have to try it. Man we have some good food in this country. We steal the best stuff from every other culture and make it ours.
