    Moving to NY :-(

    Hello,
Ill make is short and sweet.
moving to NY for a few years due to work. I have a Pistol Ar15 and an Ar15 rifle. am i kinda screwed on being able to take them out and go shooting when im there ? i was reading up on the laws and they seam like i dont wanna spend the cash to make them NY legal. im thinking they will just be locked up till i move out of ny. Anyone have any other suggestions on what i can do? I though Ca. laws were mest up. i new NY was bad.. but didnt know it was that bad.

Dude... wth.. that's serious unfriendly territory.

If there's no sentimental value, just sell 'em.

I don't know if this will help you or give you any ideas at all but I did see this the other day....

Good news for New York City gun enthusiasts, the Ares SCR “conventionalized” AR-15 has been approved for sale in New York City, under their more restrictive set of laws.Guns.com has an article on the approval:Ares Defense is now offering special low-rise iron sights for their SCR rifles. The SCR is a new “traditional” assembled lower receiver for AR-15-pattern uppers that uses “featureless” straight or Monte-Carlo-type rifle stock. The SCR, or Sport Configurable Rifle, has a lot of appeal.

If you have family or someone you really trust, you can lock the guns in a safe in their basement and keep the key so only you have access. Otherwise, you'll have to sell them or do a PPT to a good friend who can hold onto them until you move out of NY in a few years.

Be glad you're not moving to Washington DC, that cesspool really sucks. You're about to discover what very few Calguns members know, that there really are places worse than CA for gun owners.

Did you check if there was a place to store them in PA? Drive to PA and shoot all you want. Don't know the issues of being from CA and shooting in PA. But PA is a gun friendly state. (Compared to NY,NJ,CT, MA)

No job is worth a move to NY. You'll find that your quality of life is lower even if you get paid more.

NY is great! There are tons of thing to do there that CA don't offer. Enjoy every moment of it. If not, try to make friends with the NYPD.

Well, New York City is a different animal than up State. I think tou can go featureless AR so check For a legal stock here..

Or sell what you have and get a couple of Lever Guns. Bring Ammo with you because buying ammo is a pain.

                            Good luck
