I am indeed serious. First, after a day/night at the range my clothes are usually filthy from the various field shooting exercises, not to mention sweat-soaked, dirt-rubbed shirts and boots that have had too many repairs and look like some homeless dude has been wearing them for weeks; Second, I much prefer to "blend in" when circulating among the general public, especially when I am armed, which is most of the time. I'll let the patrol deputies focus on someone else. Personally, looking like a range rat is not something I need to convey. You're not serious. You actually change? Cops don't care. I have a lot of cop friends; I compete with a lot of cops.
I often fly in them. Last week went through SFO in a pair, a CZ hat and a Kalishnakitty t-shirt. The only attention I got was a "nice shirt". Yea, I know, TSA, but if anyone is going to have a freakout about a pair of pants it's them, not the CHP. And they don't.Comment

I have yet to find a pair of tactical pants that fit me. And I've tried everything I can get my hands on. They're either too short, too big, too small, too tight in the thighs, etc. I guess I'm just a weird size. 6'4", 200 lbs, 34" waist, 35" inseam.
Sucks

People's insecurities are always odd.
In any case, I wear the extensively for my work when I do shows and events. That rear slash pocket is a godsend for tools, cables, paperwork, etc.My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.Comment

Over the years, I've gotten used to finding a comfortable pair of "tactical" pants that I could wear as daily use. I know the age-old debate is "you'll be a target indicator" blah blah blah...I say this: It comes back down to fashion. If you have a good taste in fashion, you'll be able to rock whatever pants you want. When you wear khaki 5.11's and tuck your polo into your pants, YES, you will stand out.
I've gotten away from 5.11 unless I'm on the range with my department. If you're into wearing pants for their functionality and not necessarily for their "look", check out www.tadgear.com. They're built rugged AF and will last forever. I prefer their pants because they don't scream "tacticool" and come in some pretty decent colors.
But that's just me...Comment

I personally go for looking like the odd man out.
Dare I say it.... I like wearing regular jeans or regular shorts that you can find at Old Navy or Nordstroms, along with some regular comfortable walking shoes and a t-shirt with no logos.
And I like dressing this way at the range, and in firearms classes. I look like the outcast compared to everyone else around me at the range or in class.Comment

because on the highway you are sitting in your car and "they" can see your pants?Comment

Boy. Looking like the stickers on the car'' thread.
Spend your time and money on military grade weaponry to protect your family and property....Life and Liberty! but taking a stance against letting the outside world think you might carry even a pocket knife.
Hope you guys never step foot into a department store. Might realize half their selection of pants/shorts have more that 4 pockets! They even come in...........TAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment
