It seems everyone around here wears cargo shorts, so I don't feel too Mall Ninja wearing my khaki 5.11 shorts. They conceal my CW380 well in the back pocket in a sticky holster and there's plenty of room for anything else I happen to carry.

I wear Vertx tactical pants pretty much every day, which has:

"Gusseted crotch allows for extended comfort in virtually any position."

They're very comfortable and no one seems to notice them as anything other than pants. I love the secret zippered pocket as well.

I've worn the vertx, 5.11, and blackhawk pants fairly regularly. I just wear them as cargo pants that fit well enough(the vertx's look a little better with a polo), and I've never had anyone mention that they're "tactical pants". Maybe the cops at the local coffee shop who attend the annual tacticool wear fashion show might notice, but I don't care. "Normal" people would have no idea. I just get 'em when they're on sale cheap, since it seems there's enough change every few months in the fashion world that pretty much any brand can be found from time to time for $25 or less if you stack discounts.

I wound up getting a pair of the 5.11 stryke pants a while back... absolutely hate them. They're noisy and feel like they're made out of the crap windbreakers are made out of(can't really explain it better than that).

Right. Because only Assassins wear cargo pants.

You're not serious. You actually change? Cops don't care. I have a lot of cop friends; I compete with a lot of cops.
I often fly in them. Last week went through SFO in a pair, a CZ hat and a Kalishnakitty t-shirt. The only attention I got was a "nice shirt". Yea, I know, TSA, but if anyone is going to have a freakout about a pair of pants it's them, not the CHP. And they don't.

I've got a couple of the older "covert" style. There are in common darker colors and I wear them to work on casual Fridays. The only comments I've received are in the order of "where did you get those" or just "nice pants".

I'm wearing 5.11 Covert Cargo Pants right now. Love 'em.
I need the 36" inseam that 5.11 carries regularly.

I even bought a couple pair from L.A. Police Gear that were factory seconds and had the seamstress at the local dry cleaner cut and stitch them into cargo shorts.

Damn, apparently I'm doing it wrong. Here I thought Levi's and a blank t-shirt were doing the job just fine.

Ya right. Trying to look like PMC bodyguard? Next thing you know, you'll have a button-up over that going for the FULL wannabe.

                        Can you say "Drone Strike"?

I'll be donating all my Levi's, Lee, Wrangler, Docker's and the rest to Salvation Army and replace them with all tacticool pants. I'm also writing a will right now stating that I want to be buried in them and the coffin be cerakoted in camouflage.

Don't forget to spray it with Aquanet so they can't see it with NVG's.

Good advice but it's not going to happen. Wife saw my post and tore up the will. She said, "why waste more money and bury me in deeper debt when you're gone. I'll sell your body parts and recoup the money you spent on your SSEs'. If no takers, I'll just bury you in the backyard." What a sweetheart!

although I have several pair of tactical type pants,Ive not felt comfortable wearing them . For Me jeans and a long sleeved shirt ,work best for my range time or most any other time too .

I have no issue with anyone who choses differently. In fact Im enjoying reading everyones view .
