In my opinion it's criminal how the DOJ is handling background records. Legal gun owners are getting held up by the ineptness of the department to complete their files. They are taking the responsibility that they own and transferring it onto the purchaser and the FFL.

They are gladly accepting the DROS fees and then requiring the purchaser to do the departments job, including paying more money and time tracking down official records. The main culprits are felony arrests that were adjudicated as misdemeanors and finished with probation where no follow up was needed. The case gets closed without any record transferred to the DOJ. The biggest travesties are arrests that were complete mistakes.

There are instances where people are getting arrested for simple mistaken identity. Even after the arresting agency realizes the mistake, these terrible charges are showing up on the arrest record. The arrest is filed in the records even though the case was rejected by the DA. No charges are ever filed, no court records or disposition even exist. Then the buyer goes to purchase a firearm and he is subject to victimization all over again.

Things like this are going on all day every day!

When I called the DOJ they could've cared less, they said they don't make calls to courts and I will have to pay another dros fee and wait another 10 days. I was pissed!

I ended up paying 25 for the stupid fsc, 70 for the 2 Dros fees and 10 for the gun lock. Total of 105 and a total of 20 days just to dros and get my rifle.
Hey, what better way to discourage you from further firearm purchases and generating extra income from "fees".
Under the table gun control and generating additional revenue, and we think the politicos are stupid. They know what they are doing.

Imagine if I would have gotten pulled over with a suspended license because the court failed to do their job, I still would have had to pay the $25 court cost and probably tow fees if they would have impounded my vehicle, even if it was their fault and hours I would have lost from work. It is a freaken miscarriage of the justice system. Darn thieves!!

Nor does it to pretty much everyone else in this state. I just find it hilarious when I read this since I'd be willing to bet maybe 0.0000001% of the people who live hear have ever done it (or ever will), yet members here list it as an "attraction" for living here.

If that's one of the reasons you use for living here, I feel really bad for anyone reaching that far for positives living in this backwards, anti gun, over governed sorry excuse for a state.

I feel your pain and anger OP.
But imagine this - I have an 03 FFL and a COE, and still got the delay letter on two purchases in a row! Excuse me, hello? I already paid for a live scan and passed the check when I got my COE! And you want me to do it again? I don't think so.

That would be consistent with what I suggested in Post #30, that they are so swamped with their current level of staffing and resources that they're not even starting the investigations until day 8 or 9. If any wrinkles pop up, they slap a delay on the file because they're out of time. In short, they can't keep up with the current demand for firearms.

Sounds like someone doesn't get the joke.

You've never heard of the "california dream"? Seen the stupid commercials proclaiming that nothing else matters?
