Oh, this is my favorite: "If this doesn't sell, it's going back in the safe!" It's a double insult. First, you're insulting my intelligence by overpricing your firearm; then you're insulting my intelligence again by telling such a whopper.
But, seriously, sellers often overprice their firearms because it works. A lot of potential buyers don't really have a good sense of value and, given the thread capping rules in the marketplace, there's no disincentive to at least give it a shot and try to sell that rare Gen 3 Glock for $900.
