Yeah I'm gonna say this one is on OP. Not only did RG offer compensation, but they gave him choices on what kind of compensation he wanted. And for something that wasn't really that much of their fault to begin with.

OP could have called the bank on the spot instead of storming out, and it's not their fault you want that tacky plastic POS so bad that you're willing to drive 2 hours to get it.

To he fair to the OP, on CGN saying anything criticizing RG is like talking bad about someone's mom. If this happened at certain other stores like Turners there would be outrage.

What you need to do is to calm down and quit acting like a foot stomping little girl.

They screwed up somehow. People make mistakes.

That being said I would be pissed off too, but you should have got there sooner to make sure that you had plenty of time to deal with the transaction. You had to wait 40 minutes. Was it because they were busy? Or are you so important and you think that because you drove so far that they should have jumped you to the front to deal with you?

500 rounds of ammo is too much unless it is .22LR, but I would certainly try to squeeze something out of them for the extra hassle.

If your knickers are in that much of a wad over the whole deal go somewhere else. Oh, wait...they seem to be the only ones that want to deal with whatever this particular gun is. Since that is the case, you may want to leave your anger at home and try to start over with them in a more neutral manner. I guarantee it will go easier than if you go in there with an adversarial attitude.

PS90s are meh, but I've seen them at other dealers in the OC/SD area.

There are many threads on them where I did not say a word. And I did not know I wasn't allowed to express an opinion. If you read what I said in this thread I am mainly supportive of RG in this instance. I never really understood the fascination with RG and the anger if anything is said against them. Stores like Turners can be bashed and nobody ever really defends them. Turners must be doing something right though.

OP should have checked the for Market Place Rifles sales forum. I believe someone is selling a CA modded FN90.

I could never own a CALI modded version after watching StarGate SG-1

We did just switch to a new accounting system and have been having more problems with inventory and processing credit cards than normal. We received a "Declined" response from our processor on all three cards when attempting the charge, but upon further investigation the next day our processor said they did have an authorization for all three. So we apologized for the inconvenience and offered to make it up to him with a discount, free ammo, or covering the transfer fee to a dealer closer to him. The OP said he would have to call us back, so we are waiting on him at this point.

Considering the fraud protection is really for them (the bank) I demanded compensation from them for the problem.

Got it too. Waived my yearly fee.

They left me hanging... outside of my home area... declining my gasoline purchase to get home... lame.

Turners wouldn't offer to do the things riflegear did.

                    .

This last option was kinda passed over. Seems like a cool offer to me. You don't have to drive back OP.

anyway the only thing i can think of when they said "finished the transaction" is whats called "batching out" the POS system which happens at the end of the day. I would like to know what the message was when they ran your card. Did you get to see a recieppt where is said "declined" or anything else? if so PM me or post it so i can see it (obviously block out any info you deem to personal)

Untrue, Turners with work with you if they screw up. They gave my dad 5x boxes of 45acp ammo because he had to go back to redo a DROS they messed up.
Turners is not always the devil and RG is not some Utopia or something. Both are human and make mistakes. In this case was beyond their control and was dealt with professionally.

and you clearly want the buying experience to be perfect and not detract from your enjoyment of the rifle. Fair enough.

Hey Man, cool post, i like the educated ones, but I really don't understand how most of these people don't understand the purpose of my post. I don't expect the buying experience to be great. I didn't mind the 40mins wait. I mentioned it took 40mins to show that I got there an hour before they closed, not right at the last min. And, to show that my bank was closed by the time the cards were declined. The service was really good, the mistake was out of their hands, but it did REALLY put me out. so i was pissed that I had drove in traffic that far and would have to come back. I know its not the stores fault I live far away or that there is traffic in LA/OC, and I didn't expect them to reimburse me for that. I did endure that all for not, of no fault of my own, but I guess me expressing that anger is taboo to the this panel.

My guess is you posted here in the hopes of getting either reassurance that you can go ahead with the deal and enjoy your purchase, or justification for walking away from the rifle you waited so long to get because you were slighted.

I posted here to find out what I should be asking for as compensation because they didn't say an amount of ammo nor % of discount initially. So I thought they wanted to hear me set a number. When I first posted, no one said an amount just said take the deal, but there was no deal offered. So, I mentioned 500rds, not knowing what was too little or too much. Most everyone on here took my ignorance on gun store compensation as trying to blackmail the store. Which I found hilarious because I never intended the store to see the post. So how could I be blackmailing the store? I was just looking for advice. If I knew about this sort of thing, I wouldn't have asked...I never intended of walking away from buying the rifle, I would have bought with no compensation. I have recommended the store to friends, I just recommend the purchase online before making the drive because they have a new system.

Instead of asking yourself which option is better, why not ask yourself which option is worse--losing out on the rifle you've been wanting all this time, or tolerating one of life's minor hassles to get it?

I knew I was going back, when the employee said "It's our policy, it has to be paid in full to DROS, you can't go to ATM and come back because we're closed, you can't pay over the phone tomorrow, not buy it online right now because the part shows out of stock online". None of those options were available because of policy, when you know you're having problems with your card program? I even said there's something wrong with your machine. And Im just saying this to try to put u in my shoes at that moment when you know you are going to have to drive back when this gets cleared up. Anyway, I have been back and began the DROS.

As others have noted, there's a life lesson or two in this experience as well. Who do you want to put in charge of your feelings? A retailer subject to the unpredictability of a new credit-card approval system? A bunch of strangers on an Internet forum?

I didn't see what the message on the machine said, they just told me declined. I was thinking I should have asked for them to try it at the card swipe in front of me, but the guy kept taking it to some back room for transactions. I see what you mean about banks lying, but it was 2 different banks, and when I got home one of them did show both transactions as pending. One RG said they got approved for $1500 and the one they said was declined $162.

They're willing to help you out from their mistske, but not take a loss on the transaction. If any (or most) store has a choice of giving you a 'huge' discount like in the amount of 500 rounds of ammo, or to simply refund you and sell the rifle to somebody else at the same full price, what do you think they'll do?

Don't be greedy as everyone makes mistakes, and at least they admitted to it and are offering some compensation for your troubles.
I was thinking of what they pay for the ammo more than what they charge for the ammo, when I was considering how much ammo. I really didn't think 2 boxes of ammo would have review readers thinking wow they really took care of that guy, that's an amazing stand up place I would have total confidence shopping there. I guess they don't need to make that effort if their competition is really bad. It seems to me that the expectations for gun stores are pretty low on here. From these posts it seems that most stores are sooo terrible at customer service, and that steep discounts are unheard of. I haven't had such bad customer service, as most on here describe at stores. Ranges yes, but not stores. Ammo Bros, and Cap firearms have always been real cool, and the Orange County Indoor Range in Brea was excellent (my fav) Insight in Cerritos was really kool too. Only delt with Turners for the Hand gun test like 10 years ago.
