What ammo shortage? There's no ammo shortage on gunbot.net and that includes 5.56.

            PFFFFTTT!!! Gouger!!!

            I sell my SS109 cheap at $4.95/rnd.

Seriously, there's plenty of ammo out there. You just have to be a little savy and get to the stores before the flippers and hoarders.

I don't notice it... I guess I haven't looked at ammo sources lately.

Having gone through one cycle of what people define as panic, I will not get caught in it again...

Buy what you can, when you can, not just to shoot them, but to stack them deep.

If they ban M855 they can then use the new reasoning to ban all rifle ammo. That is the plan.

There is no cheap ammo anymore. It's all grossly overpriced and that's not going to change until demand and consumption drops a huge amount. Once there is an excess of production, prices will edge down but ammo will NEVER be cheap again. The pricing effect is just like gasoline: even when Saudi Arbia flooded the market with oil, the price of gas only dropped to about $2. But we have been gouged at $4 for so long, $2 seemed really cheap. Same thing will happen with ammo. Someday junk quality 9mm ammo may get back down to $200/case, but some of us remember that it was $100 (delivered) for more than a decade between the 90's and early 2000's. Never be that cheap again.

I'm not sure about "overpriced." That's a loaded term, and assumes there is a correct price, and that it can also be "underpriced." The price is whatever the market says it is.

In fact, demand will continue to increase as gun ownership continues to expand. Today the NSSF just announced:

The February 2015 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 1,280,825 is the second highest February on record for the 16-year-old system, with an increase of 1.3 percent compared to the February 2014 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1,264,010.
More shooters == more demand == higher prices

.223 seems to be up around 5-10 cents per round, 7.62*39 up around 4 cents per round, within the last couple of weeks. I figure many people are buying because they are misinformed or because they want to stack up before in rises any further.

Also it seems to be just the deals that are getting snatched up. Still plenty of .223 for .40 cents per and AK for .24 cents per round.

Hopefully prices can stabilize before election season gets to near and prices are all but gaurenteed to rise.

I was just at my wife's store and they had everything except 22 in stock. Also just picked up a box of m855. They had more today but they sell out after about 3 days after the shipment.

What ammo shortage? I just bought 2,000 rounds of .22 and 200 rounds of .308 this week on-line. Gunbot.net is a very useful resource.

Right, already been lectured about supply and demand. Might believe some of it if I hadn't worked in industry for 30 years and actually participated in planning meetings where marketing guys figured out the best way to gouge people.

If you think ammo is NOT overpriced, best wishes. Come on over to our range and buy those 500 packs of .22LR priced at $70 that have been sitting on the floor for a couple of months.
