OKAY!!! It's a given - everyone mostly voted for ammo as first, and then spare parts. I understand the ammo part. But will the spare parts/etc also go up, and why?

Anyhow to be safe, what spare parts should I buy? (sorry, I'm a noob). I own AR15, Sig 226 9mm, and a 12 gage (mossy 500). Even if I wanted to buy spare parts, I don't know what to buy... Please HELPPP...

so- ammo. as they say, buy it cheap and stack it deep.

              starting today.
We have the 2a to protect our guns, but does it protect our ammo?

I fear a scenario where they give up on trying to grab guns, and instead focus on the ammo by either (a) certain amount per month/yr. (b) certain ammo only. (c) special licensing or other restrictions. (d) all of the above.

They would have an easier sell with "We support the 2A, BUT no one needs more than 100 rounds of ammo at any one time"

Ah your thinking long term liberty !

That said it would be a smart move to contribute and work for a candidate that has a realistic chance of winning. I mean independents are rarely elected and libertarians are never elected .

Personally I give a few small checks to electable candidates in close races in states other than california. The NRA has recommendations as do other freedom oriented conservative groups.

As for "stockpiling/hoarding ammo . One law could turn your stash into a huge legal liability .

My advice is to buy one high quality center fire, self loading rifle, pistol and shotgun and enough ammo to wait out any shortages that happen periodically.

Considering that we are entering a new era of "Cold War" with Russia, my money is on AK's and tula ammo.

                    Spare parts you'll need
Springs: Recoil, magazine, trigger and all sorts of others
                    Firing pins
                    Extractors

Nice to have but I really haven't really needed one as a replacement yet in over 30 years of shooting:
                    Barrels
                    Gas Tubes
                    Triggers
                    Sears

Back in 1999 I put an M1A barrel on e-bay I bought it for something like $69 as a coupon offer from SA.
The barrel sold on e-bay for over $350.
M1A bolts and op-rods were equally ridiculous
All because the SB 23 ban was about to take hold and, the best part?... M1A's weren't really affected by SB-23.
Didn't matter, the blood was in the water and a feeding frenzy was under way. When Obama was first elected an AR upper that was shipped the same day I ordered it was now on an 8-week plus backlog.
Now imagine the poopstorm for guns, ammo and parts that will accompany the phrase
                    President Hilary Clinton.
Consider .22LR. I am not aware of any threatened or imminent ban on it but the hoarding/flipping continues to this day.
So, the spare parts I listed are just good to have. Having them will save you a headache if/when one breaks or wears out.

                    YMMV

The best thing to buy before 2016 elections is a few politicians. Better yet, about 2/3 of them.
