Good bunch of guys there...it looks a bit sketchy on the outside, but I've never had a problem, and they know their stuff.

At DAS they (1 guy in particular) once told me their transfer price was purposefully high to dissuade people from buying outside the shop and to weed out those kind of sales. It worked, I went elsewhere as I watched the price go up over time.

Now, I only use Gunther Guns in Carlsbad which is $49 + DROS. Then, of course, sales tax since all FFL's stick to that now. Tax use to be kind of a game, in the last 1-2 years, tax is charged in CA.

I consider ALL costs when buying off the webs. Sometimes my LGS matches and beats, sometimes they cannot and even with fees, I can get a decent price.

Assuming the transfer fee was $70, then I wouldn't say that falls into the 'ripped off' category. I'd say one can probably do a bit better shopping around and doing some legwork.

However, $70 for a brick and mortar store, with inventory they are trying to sell, is not completely outrageous.

Yea I have had some firearm transfers done in the past through Mount Pleasant Arms and his pricing was a lot cheaper but I though I should give this place a try since their business hours are much more convenient. The transfer is $65 but with the DROS and tax equal to $117.

Home-based FFL. I did my last transfer at a FFL's home in a gated community.

Almost every FFL near SF is at least $100 fee (before DROS and tax).

They quoted me $150 + DROS to transfer a firearm shipped from out-of-state.

yup, when I was quoted $125.00 a few years ago, it seemed to be quoted to me in a way to let me know they really don't want to be bothered with it in the first place

i guess if you're willing to accept that kind of price they'll go ahead and do it, otherwise, it seems like that is their "deterrent" price for the service

I had a local FFL in VA I would go to for FFL transfers from out of state. He also wanted to grow his business of OTC sales so several times when I asked him to receive a gun for me from an out of state FFL, he calculated how much it would cost me, then made me an offer for the same gun at the same price or even $15 lower. So, instead of paying him $35 for the transfer and my money going to another FFL, he would order the gun from his distributor and sell it to me for the same as what I would end up paying with the FFL transfer.
I wish there were CA gun stores that would do this, but I haven't heard of any.

Turners in Norwalk quoted me $50 plus dros for a revolver coming from Ruger directly.
