The average around here seems to be $50 transfer fee +dros. The guy I go to for transfers recently dropped his to $35 +dros, which is the cheapest I've seen so far and isn't that bad.

As mentioned above, it's time to start shopping around for a reasonable transfer fee from another ffl.

              Yeah, that's a given.

I bought 2 c&r advertised as excellent condition - hand picked, but still luck of the draw - and... Never again. All said and done I got boned by luck of the draw and the transfer fees were insult to injury. Paid 350 for an advertised 250 gun that was actually about 160 value.

That's the game but definitely not worth it in CA unless you've got your coe/c&r license.

When I move to a free state I'll probably go buck wild on c&r.

                It's cheaper than Turner's.
They quoted me $150 + DROS to transfer a firearm shipped from out-of-state.

OP, please identify the store that quoted your amount. I want to know who not to give my business to.

                    Rodger's Relics in Santa Clara.

Forgot $ but they are always cheap. Only thing is their "banker's hours" and hard to get there in traffic in late afternoon near closing.

Title needs to be changed to " I got ripped off on transfer fees".
