    Anyone gotten Covid recently?

My neighbor caught it recently. It took her out for a few weeks. Not sure of her previous infection status or vaccinations.

Just wondering how bad the latest version is.

I had it a few weeks ago. Fever, headache, mild sore throat, loss of taste again (though after the last time, it never really returned to what I once had). I was over it in a week (test positive to negative). Have some lingering mild coughing but that's about it.

I haven't had it recently. The home where I visit a woman in her 80s fairly regularly has had a couple of semi-lockdowns this year due to it, requiring masks for visitors and workers, ramping up pressure to get so-called 'vaccines' and boosters, etc. It's been a source of irritation for all concerned.

How long will California’s COVID surge continue? 5 things to know

...According to data released Friday, there are now 14 states with “very high” levels of coronavirus detected in their wastewater — California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Indiana, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Connecticut, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Hawaii and Alaska, as well as the District of Columbia...

Despite a new variant, there hasn’t been much severe disease from COVID-19 this summer...

A mild summer wave could create conditions for problems later in the year.

In July, the state Department of Public Health said that scientists anticipated California would see either a stronger summer COVID wave or a more significant winter wave...

Mainstream medical groups, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, are offering their own recommendations to advise individuals and families on what vaccines they should get.
What it says to me is that we've returned to an era where individuals no longer have Government definitively telling them what to do and that's made many 'scared.' If you have to make a decision for yourself, then you can't blame 'someone else' if things don't work out the way you hoped.

I've always been dubious regarding using 'wastewater' as a metric for 'enforcing' countermeasures and, even when people are actually sick, I think they should isolate until they are better; i.e., don't go shopping, don't go to work, don't go to restaurants, etc. In other words, if you feel it's 'like the flu,' then treat it similarly and take care not to readily transmit it to others. (I've had it twice since this began and it wasn't fun either time, but I got over it within a couple of weeks both times. Then again, I didn't get a so-called 'vaccine' and only took antihistamines and Tylenol, slept a lot, and drank plenty of water. Go figure.)

The wife had it about a month ago. She had the chills, a headache and no taste. Home tested positive. She went to the doctor the next day and again tested positive. She was placed on a steroid regiment. Two days later she was feeling good enough to not listen to anyone and was cleaning window when she slipped and hit her head on the floor causing a cut. A trip to ER and 2 stitches later, she was back home with a more severe headache, but at least she tested negative.

The point of LA Times article could be condensed down to the only sentence written in the article that mattered: “Despite the new variant, there hasn’t been much severe disease from COVID-19 this summer.” Really, that’s all you need to know.

I just came down with it. The symptoms started yesterday evening. Two at home Covid tests were both positive this morning. I have not had covid before. Last time I got vaccinated was Nov, 2022. I live in a densely populated area. Probably caught it on MUNI or BART. Time will tell how bad it is in my case…..so far, it is NO fun

Hope you are alright and get over it soon. My sister took Paxlovid and it seemed to help quite a lot. You just need to catch it early. Other than a bad metallic taste for a few days she tolerated it well. Please keep us posted on you progress.

I started on Paxovid 24 hours after noticeable to me symptoms showed up, I am in the over 65 demographic. The sore throat symptom is definitely no fun. The RX seemed to stop the rise in fever. Before I took the first dose, fever hit 102.F and I had chills. My guess id without the RX, 102 F temp would not be the peak. Since I started Paxlovid, my temp has been in the 98.5 to 100.6 range with average around 99.6

My last COVID vaccination was 34 months ago. It was my 4th one for COVID. After that 4th one, I just let it go by the wayside and thought I am not going to get COVID
