    "I think our governments will remain virtuous for many centuries; as long as they are chiefly agricultural; and this will be as long as there shall be vacant lands in any part of America. When they get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, they will become corrupt as in Europe."

      Since I took one biology class in college and nothing else in a related field, he gave me the short version-

      Those who are vaccinated and later catch the virus are mutating the virus in new directions.
      ... The liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
      * Creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
      * Satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
      * Augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
      * Rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government

        It really doesn't work that way.

        One could argue that the use of the vaccines could be selecting out the new variants but that is a different thing. But the same would be true for those who have developed immunity by getting Covid-19.

        But since the immunity isn't really all that great it's a little iffy.

        These things just tend to mutate. And the successful mutations tend to be better at spreading and worse at killing.

        South African sources are saying that the FJB variant is only causing mild disease as best they can tell at this time. That fits with the expected (but not guaranteed) direction one would expect from mutations subject to selection.

        People also need to remember that Covid-19 is not the first scary SARS virus we ran into. Back in the 2002-2004 time frame we had the SARS-CoV-1. Exactly why the SARS-CoV-1 disappeared is not clear. Arguably isolation and contact tracing helped to limit the problem but part of the equation may be that people rapidly became very ill and were thus relatively easily identified and isolated. The mortality was something like 10% IIRC. So a pretty lethal virus just kinda disappeared.

        I really suspect that the new variant really won't be a big deal. Only time will tell, but if it were highly lethal we'd probably already know that.

            The "variant" story is a lie. They need a story to explain the mass deaths that they know are coming. How are they going to explain the rising cancer rates? Variant? Lol

              Oh yeah, did you guys hear? This new "moronic" variant is hard to detect and causes "false negatives" in existing tests.

                        The two big things I’ve taken from the info out thus far is:

                        A. It appears to have mutated in an immune compromised person (hiv). This is the third major variant to occur this way.

                        B. It looks like based on reports from SA it may have a lower mortality rate than previous variants.
                        Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

                        The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
                        The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)
