For the vaccinated who support the mandate, why do you support it?

I've been making the drive to the Seattle area once a month for a year now, still working in MOB's and hospitals..... no sickness to report.

    I don't wear masks, I don't wear gloves, and I'm not (and never will be) vaccinated for the 'rona. I just practice common sense () heath precautions, washing hands, using a knuckle for elevator buttons, etc.

      That's what I am saying, I will not buy into the BS. I'm not going to support anyone by wearing a mask. Unless it's a LAW, I am not wearing it, and even them... case by case.

      Tired of this f'n garbage.

          Ummm, no. Unless by 'many' you mean the usual two or three suspects we all know about. Have you found your answer yet?

            Agreed. If masks were 100% voluntary, I might see how you could think they symbolize "we're all in this together", but once governments started mandating them, they became a symbol of fear, oppression and submission

              You've been around here long enough to have read all the people who vote democrat and support "common sense gun laws".

              Anyway, haven't gotten a response from a pro-mandater. Not looking to shame anybody. Just genuinely curious.

                An interesting perspective. I can see that.

                For the most part, I don't live in fear.
                And I don't consider my self oppressed.
                And submission is not a condition I allow myself to be in.

                You are taking the mask and treating it much like those who subscribe to the BLM movement treat the American Flag. They see it as a symbol of "fear, oppression and submission" but I don't. I suspect you don't either but that's a guess on my part.

                  I have seen multiple people advocate for the vaccine but I don’t remember seeing anyone advocate for a mandate.

I have yet to read anything negative about the vaccines that are the least bit credible. I am able to read things objectively, see bias where it exists, and make decisions based on facts and not fear or what I want to be true.

                      Don't want to be vaccinated ? Then don't - I don't care. If you can't see the benefits that's on you. I really don't care if someone doesn't want to be vaccinated. Just like I don't care if you don't want to own a gun. Don't want to be able to protect yourself or family? Good luck if the SHTF.

                      I wear a mask indoors like at Staples Center the other night or at Home Depot. Mostly out of courtesy to the employees. I believe that the masks are more symbolic than effective - they symbolize we are all in this together.

                      I don't think there should be mandates - of any kind.
                      My best friend got 3 bachelors degrees in 5 years, 1 in biology, 1 in epidemiology, and the third one I cannot remember, except that it was in a related field. He later got a masters in epidemiology, and took several other courses related to the field. He was in public health for more than 2 decades.

                      He believes that the science is skewed re: the vaccine, and the science behind it is largely driven by political considerations and not purely by science. He said there are a number of doctors, nurses, public health specialists, epidemiologists, etc. who dissent from the prevailing "wisdom" re: the vaccine, and seek to challenge the dogma behind it. I think they have an online forum where they discuss COVID related subjects. He believes that those in the medical and public health fields who go along with the prevailing wisdom are "shrill, agenda driven lapdogs" as he put it, because the vast majority of them refuse to consider anything that contradicts conventional wisdom.

                      I know my wife's doctor advises people with certain conditions not to get the vaccine, and points out possible bad side effects, but in the end, he leaves it up to them. In my wife's case, she has a shellfish allergy and is allergic to several medications, so she will not get it. In my case, I am allergic to yellow jacket stings, but oddly enough, not honey bee stings. I am also allergic to amoxicillin. I have not ruled out getting one of the vaccines, but at this point, I won't get it. And I will not be bullied into it.

                      I still laugh at the public service announcements that I hear almost daily, which tout the vaccine as "safe and effective", when all evidence suggests it is neither. I laugh at talking points like "The vaccine was never meant to keep you from getting the Coronavirus" which is pure, unadulterated BS, or "We need to protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated!!" and "It is the unvaccinated spreading the virus!!", which is also weapons grade BS.

                      The biggest laugh is reserved for those who spout the line "If you don't get the vaccine, you are selfish and don't care about your fellow citizens!!". That usually comes from lefties, which is a hoot, considering their long and bloody history, and their decades long penchant for supporting genocidal leftist dictators.
                      ... The liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
                      * Creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
                      * Satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
                      * Augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
                      * Rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government
