The (Jun 2021 - present) wave in NSW has 14 deaths, 53 in ICU, 203 total currently hospitalized. They went from 1 case in Bondi Beach Jun 2021 to ~3200 today.

Just to be clear, that 14 is the current wave only. The grand total of COVID deaths in NSW since they starting counting last year is 69.

Now, let's put that into perspective. NSW has 8.2 million people. You mentioned the 14 deaths are from this current wave. The data looks like it's from beginning of June to end of July, a full 2 months. That's 7 deaths per month in a population of 8.2 million. You figure even accidents or old age would take more lives than that on a daily basis. They locked down the city for that?

I don't deny the existence of the disease. I am confused by the outsized reaction to this minor inconvenience.
