First, I can't speak for the type of access you have, but hospitals and doctors in the poor areas in LA (as well as in poor areas virtually everywhere) are far worse than their competition. Look at where the best hospitals in CA are.

As to your point about them not working, again, I can't speak to what you've seen, but all the restaurants I go to are staffed similarly as they were before. Yes, that includes the hispanic men. I also know all of the hispanic men on my step dad's side of the family are still working too.

Finally, the unemployment rate among hispanic men is less than among hispanic women, which further hits at that point.

Again, I can't speak to what your buddy saw, but the statistics show that over 90% of those in the labor force are working.

To your last point ... yeah. It's almost like the government has no clue what they're doing. All that high-density development and mass transit push sure seems to have helped the virus.
