    Covid lockdowns-suicide

In Japan suicides are up due to lock downs.

Shut downs save lives! if only we do more of it and try harder it will work. It does not matter that it has never worked anywhere. We can make it work here and create the perfect society. IT needs to be mandatory to live in government run camps. GPS ankle bracelets are necessary for contact tracing. No entry or exit without the permission of the elites, they know better. You are not trying hard enough, it is your fault.

I cannot believe how many people are buying into the BS.

I actually think they don't truly believe it, they just have a desire to be controlled so they preach covid 24/7 trying to get their fellow Americans to fall in line like good obedient sheep.

A few are right here on calguns.

I've heard the "but the suicides" argument many times before. The difference here is that, previously, I only ever heard it from the liberals who wanted to use those suicides to curtail my right to bear arms.

The lockdowns causing more suicides story is most likely false, but we won't know the full story until the data is reported. It's something I've been following.

Suicides didn't rise in MA during lockdown:

Suicides didn't rise in the UK during lockdowns:

Suicides didn't rise in NZ during lockdowns:

Suicides didn't rise in Queensland AUS during lockdowns:

Suicides probably did rise in Japan during the covid pandemic, not sure you can blame lockdowns since Japan didn't have one. Plus, remember how I keep blathering on about generalizability? Japan is a very strange worldwide outlier in terms of suicides. They are I believe the most suicide prone country on the planet, so any perturbation to their baseline would probably have an outsize effect.

        Japan's lack of lockdowns:

Japan had no lockdown, it has an elderly population - so why haven't more people died from Covid-19?

Nor has Japan had a lockdown on the scale or severity of Europe. In early April, the government ordered a state of emergency. But the stay-at-home request was voluntary. Non-essential businesses were asked to close, but there was no legal penalty for refusing.

Why is Japan’s COVID-19 death rate so much lower than those of the United States and European countries? The mystery has yet to be solved in medical or immunological terms, but a look at the social aspects does suggest some answers.

My wife met an old lady yesterday who mentioned suicide. The lady is otherwise healthy. But this covid bull**** is literally making her crazy. She’s depressed and so full of anxiety she can’t take it anymore

          Good job fear mongers.

Suicides among US vets has been averaging around 22 suicides a day. Lately that average has declined. Possibly the challenge of the covid has a alter effect on former soldiers.

Worldwide who knows. Some folks are unable to cope with pressures.

Not false. This year, a family member and a close friend both comitted suicide over the anxiety caused by the pandemic. One in August and one two weeks ago. Both were young women. The paramedics who responded to the last one said they see lots of suicides now.

There. Now you have some actual data from a witness.

A nephew committed suicide in Sept and his Mother said it was due to him not being able to get a job after graduating from College. He had an offer and was going to start in March, but the offer was rescinded due to the shutdowns.

Since May, there have been numerous news stories saying suicides are up (most say 3X), but no numbers are being reported. If the CDC can report all of the other death numbers, they have to have the suicide numbers but are not making them public.

Lets also not forget about the increases in drug overdoses that are being reported. They also seem to be way up.

While I feel for your families' losses. It's anecdote vs. population level data. If, you look at those papers hundreds of people still committed suicide in both the pre and post lockdown periods, but the rate of suicide per 100K pop did not change, pretty strong evidence that lockdowns did not cause more suicides on a population level. Suicides during a lockdown at or below the baseline level are not "lockdown induced suicides", it's suicides above that baseline that are "lockdown induced suicides". So far, excess suicides unlike excess deaths are not apparent in the data (except maybe Japan).

So we are keeping the schools closed because of the suicides then? It is a bigger problem than covid, so....

Keep nitpicking. People are killing themselves because of the fear mongering. People are unnecessarily scared thanks to lab rat alarmists and vaccine salesmen.
