    I need a LIFE!!
    • Feb 2011

Anyone that wasn't aware (back in March) that this game would go for many many months leading to the election - is hopeless.

Several of us saw all this - far in advance... and stated as much (its easy to find old posts)... none of us are Nostradamus (common sense doesn't require it)...

The only variable- that a few of us didn't know at the time - was the 'other' shenanigans that would be thrown into the mix... we've all seen the "protests"... that's one - with more to come.

This isn't "normal" social challenges... these are purposeful events blown WAY out of proportion - as a last ditched effort to convince the American public that Trump can't handle adversity...

Good Lord help us if something REAL happened (as in not exaggerated/fabricated) with Hillary in office - or worse, Biden

We will always have to be mindful of others that aren't able to help themselves (for various reasons)... but we should NEVER cater to those that stomp feet demanding handouts. Period. < We are seeing a lot of that - on MANY levels.

November cant get here soon enough.

He can't. As much as I would love to have a champion of 2A rights in the oval office, Trump is really bad at the job and quite frankly has dragged the respect and honor of the presidency through the mud. He hasn't done much in terms of 2A rights either, unless one favors the bump stock ban. it's just been four years of tweeting, name calling, superlatives, praising dictators and self-congratulation. all hail the trump dynasty, king of the america.

biden is a old twit, his family clearly has its own ethics challenges (see hunter), and is guaranteed to do us no favors regarding 2a. about the only good thing about him is that, as long as his minders keep him from sticking his foot in his mouth as he is wont to do, at least he isn't likely to make his entire family unelected officials of the republic and hopefully will refrain from asking foreign governments for re-election favors.

so, yeah, we are screwed, no matter how it goes down.

what I'm really worried isn't november. it's that from now on, this will be the norm for the united states. endless, intransigent partisan fights, everyone either on one far side of the pendulum or the other, elevation of knee jerk ignorance, and the normalization of simply saying that verifiable news is "fake" in lieu of actually having to answer for one's actions.

and that's the america i am most worried about. both parties, giving up all pretense of rational discourse and simply slinging mud and making up stuff and pandering to slogans: "black lives matter!" "all lives matter!" "make america great!" "restore america!" and so on.

This country is divided and will never go back, I really believe that. The destructive lefitsts are getting worse and worse, there will never be reconciliation between leftists and people who believe in the constitution. They have completely opposite world views. In the end we will probably slide to the left further and further because of the lack of education in this country. We are on the decline.

We are. And that's incredibly sad.

The whole system feels riddled with corruption, from top to bottom. Just today I was reading on how Jose Huizar, LA City councilman, basically sold out his entire district in exchange for bribes from land developers. While claiming to be a champion for the poor and homeless, he was actually helping to make even less housing available for the poor. He's probably going to go to jail, along with his wife, whom he tried to get elected to take over the scam for him once he termed out. I'm absolutely certain he'll claim it's some kind of racist conspiracy, that he's been set up, yada yada.

Back to the original purpose of this thread - it really bothers me that telling the public things that are clearly not true has become acceptable now. I know, I know - politicians have always lied. But at least in my memory, politicians didn't have the gumption to insist that something is true when anybody with just basic reading skills can see that it is not. very 1984: We are at war with Eastasia. We have always been at war with Eastasia.

so, yeah, SD, I guess that's how it's going to be. Leftists will insist that their truth is the real truth, rightists will say their truth is the real truth, and anybody who attempts to be objective or cite data will get skewered by both sides. "Shut up, Karen!"

The post by oldsmoboat "You can't have a second wave if you didn't [finish] the first wave" sums it up best. The logic of this is so obvious. Even most of the experts must be deliberately misusing the term in order to scare people.

Below is the Spanish Flu, a true second wave. The first virus has been genetically sequenced to be 25% human and 75% duck in terms of the cell receptors it could attach to, the second wave was 75% human and 25% duck. The third wave has not been sequenced that I am aware of.

I wish we could just let the virus burn. It will get wiped out by letting healthy people get infected, they'll fight it off. Young people barely even feel it! Those over 50, wash your hands and don't pick your nose. Those over 70 - wear a mask when you go out, else stay inside and watch TV. (Nursing homes: shut your doors)

While I don’t believe we will have a true second wave of Covid, I’m firmly convinced a Second American Civil War is on the horizon with first shots fired in early November.

I am not too worried about a wave of infections. It's hospitalizations that we ought to keep an eye on and make sure they don't get overwhelmed. Aye caramba, this virus is ruining my summer!
Yeah, you're going to need A LOT of coffee there.

You do realize that hospitalizations ARE A DIRECT RESULT of a waive of infections, right? Infections = hospitalization. No hospital beds means people (even young people DIE of Covid). Go ahead and get that second cup now.
