    Yup, he's lucky he's not facing court martial or whatever the Navy calls it. (I only know Army)

Li Wengliang was a doctor not a captain of one of the most prestigious military vessels in the world and its just plain IDIOTIC to compare the two. Wengliang was trying to warn the world about a coming crisis the screwed up captain was the traditional diaper doper baby crying about the outbreak on his ship that he failed to control. There is HUGE crowd of TDS infected that love the forsaken captain regardless of his loose lips that took his ship off line. Join them, embrace them, buy their books he's still fired and should be.
      Couple things, how do you know the Dr. is being wiped? What evidence do you have?
      Second all reports was the Dr. was warning his colleagues not the entire world, so where did you get that info from?
      In both cases the two people I mentioned was trying to get help for their friends or subordinates and got reprimanded for trying to do the right thing and that is get help. That was my comparison.

        Comparison is weak because the former captain was subject to the UCMJ and was mandated to adhere to the chain of command.

          Crozier should have kept the info within his chain of command, it's that simple. Any of us making assumptions who are not in the know are making just that...assumptions. And assumptions are worth squat.

              Here is an interesting view of the situation by another former US Navy commanding officer;

              Bob Koonce served for over 20 years in the U.S. Submarine Force and retired from active duty in 2011 after commanding USS KEY WEST (SSN 722), a nuclear submarine based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Bob frequently speaks and writes on Operational Excellence and High Reliability Organizations based on the leadership and culture of the U.S. Nuclear Navy.

              The Unpopularity Contest;

              Mr. Koonce has an unusual qualification to comment on the issue ...

              Like many, this Corona Virus quarantine has given me time to think and reflect. As I was talking about COVID-19 with my family, I shared with them when we got the Swine Flu (H1N1) on board my submarine. It was 2009 and the USS KEY WEST (SSN 722) was deployed to the Western Pacific for six months.

                    Yes. I was an ET1(SW) nuke on the CVN 72. I was the LPO of Reactor Controls division. Reported to the ship the day after valentines day 2001, and left the ship April 30 2007. Good times......

                          China is using the knowledge of our military "gnashing their teeth" over Coronavirus infections to get more belligerent with their navy. If you really want to signal to a hostile nation about precisely when the worst time for them to act might be, THIS is how you do it.

                          That Captain was grossly negligent at the very least by "leaking" his information. He should have kept it inside the chain of command. If this was a time of war, this would be nothing less than relaying critical information to the enemy, and this guy CANNOT be trusted to be in charge of a warship because he may very well some day do so in a time of war. He has just proven that he is incapable of the task.

                          PERIOD.
