I saw one report this crossed Highway 50, but didn't elaborate. Can't find anything else.
Now my mind is filled with rubber tires, and forest fires
    And whether I'm a liar,
And lots of other situations where I don't know what to do,
At which time God screams to me "There's nothing left for me to tell you."

Caldor Fire has spotted to the north side of 50. Just east of Kyburz

Air activity over the fire today has been brisk. Currently there's a mapping aircraft working the fire...

Sounds like they're looking to line, fire and cover the north side of 50 pretty far east as a first line of defense with a backup plan a few miles north. IDK though, looking at this afternoon's satellite, and the wind gusts, Highway 50 is fast becoming untenable. The GPS coordinates cover the bottom of Lake Tahoe at top right.

            Nice gesture

I saw that but then there wasn't much said about it. It looks like Pinto linked their Twitter feed.

              Thanks!

We went to Tahoe turned around and left. The smoke is so bad you would think the fire is there. Virginia city was nice.

I'd just like to point out, I was the one saying we should all wash or cars to make it rain.

                    What happened today?

It rained. In August. ON THE FIRE.

toot toot... That's me tooting my own horn.

Taking my truck to Splasherville tomorrow to get her washed... Let's keep this going!

What air tracking site is that top screenshot from?

Any air tracking sites that are set up with detail maps of what they are flying over? I was trying to figure out exactly they were dumping water, but the way the map was configured I could not make out the landmarks that would tell me where they were flying.

The flight tracking comes from this site:
ADS-B Exchange - track aircraft live - aircraft flight history

I'm not certain where specific aerial mapping fire data being collected can be viewed publicly. AFAIK it's proprietary information for firefighting managers to use in planning. The results may be able to be found in their planning documents, these days a little tougher to access IME than in the past.

The map shown in my sample is one of many templates which can be used, and can be coordinated with the SAR map, also very customizable, to provide specific data. I run on a mobile hotspot 24/7 and often in poor reception so use simple templates which load faster with my connection. Someone on a fast connection won't have such inhibitions. The second map is found here and can easily be slaved to GPS to provide precise links and zooms; sample:

Fire update from "Wil on the Hill"

I was on the phone with Wil for almost an hour this morning.

He has been staying in the evacuation zone at a Ranch on Grizzly Flat Road just a few miles down from Grizzly Flat and has a lot of freedom of movement Between his history in the county, and everyone he knows and the names of folks he is hanging out with in that no-go zone it is not really a surprise.

As we were talking he was giving an account of vehicles driving by on Grizzly Flat Road - dozens and dozens of fire trucks from cities across Southern California and the Bay area, many trucks with transformers, and several Governors Office of Emergency Services vehicles. (He added the editorial - So now Newsom is going to pay attention to this poop.)

The fire is continuing westward in the Middle Fork of the Cosumnes River canyon. Last night there was a spot where it flew up the canyon hillside into properties in Somerset a couple miles west of Grizzly. Fire crews stopped it right at some houses that had HUGE fire breaks on them, but this fire is very active still. The fire is continuing to head west down the canyon and they expect it to run back up the hill to Grizzly Flat road at some point. Wil was on scene last night where and when the fire ran up the canyon wall into Somerset forcing him to flee - insane story.

Hopefully we'll get someone on my property today that can get a report back to me.

A report from a neighbor (about 150 yards away) is that there were fire crews surveying our yesterday, but no details as to what they saw. (My neighbor is a part-timer and has security cameras on battery back up with cell connection)

Some very close friends up in Grizzly had their home miraculously survive the initial fire on Monday/Tuesday, which was cause for celebration... but a flash up later in the week took them out. I was/am crushed. Every day I get more confirmations of friend's homes being gone, but that one hurts the most.

It sounds like this is far from over... we all pray that prediction turns out to be false.

I sent an email to Wil's son this morning trying to track down that video of Wil that some of you mentioned. LOL - Wills couple of interviews are being picked up by outlets all over and people and media outlets are reaching out to him. He is laughing at all this hooopla he has created by his big mouth and wants to parley it into opportunities to explain how screwed up our forest management programs are and what we need to do to fix it.

There is more, but this is all for now - there is a lot of controversy and politics going on regarding how the fire was managed after it started and was at 30-40 acres for a couple of days. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I for one, am expecting to start seeing a LOT more people showing up to the Placerville City Council meetings. As of late it's been just a dozen people, most of which are old Karens and the few libtards we have running around whining about stuff.

If people don't go and hold them accountable, they'll continue to think it's just fine to do things like not fix the roads, clean up the forest, and not remove the noose from our town's various signs.

Approaching 100k acres and no containment. Crazy.
