I've been looking for that interview but haven't found it yet. It was live when I watched it. That guy was known as 'Fred on the hill' or something like that, he was a fixture in the area. Seemed to really know his stuff. I believe the sign he was standing in front of during the interview was for a place that later got torched but some of the buildings survived. It was some sort of a resort or campground. I saw it on a later news report after the fire blew up.
Also, early on, meaning early on the morning of the 17th, I heard numerous scanner calls for resources and there were 'none to send'. I happened to be up at 4am or so checking on the Dixie fire and noted a blob on the satellite runs to the south and checked it out.
I understand that fires in BFE might not get resources or might experience delays but this fire was near a heavily populated and traveled corridor to Lake Tahoe. Something about the whole deal doesn't make sense. Heck, if the winds blow right it could end up in Lake Tahoe. Not much to stop it.
