One of my 870s had a similar issue. I polshed the bore and that only slightly improved it. I shipped it back to Remington for free and they fixed it. I then polished the bore when I got it back. I've not had a problem since.

Troubleshooting problems is a lost art.

Not to hijack the thread but a friend came to me with his 870 and wanted to know what needed to be "polished". The action was extremely stiff. A close inspection showed it never was cleaned or lubricated. In 10 minutes it was back to "legendary" status.

I am thinking about sending it back too, I wonder if it has to go through FFL to send/receive the shotgun if you send it back to Remington?
        thanks

let my start by sayin I am no gunsmith. however I think you should polish that up, if you take your time and pay attention to detail you wont screw it up and it will be cheaper than sending it back to Remington.
If you do decide to do it yourself(or have your friend that offered to do it for you in a previous post) you may void the warranty if that's important to you.

Yea... you are right. but the warranty on my 870 probably is expired already.

I would polish up your chamber and see if that helps. I own a 590a1 and still have some issues with Winchester bulk. To be exact, out of a box of 25 bulk Winchester I get 8-9 extraction issues that require a little more muscle than usual

No. Not for repair/upgrade. If they sent you a replacement gun (different serial number) yes.

Have you considered vang comp ? they can take care of this issue and improve accuracy, decrease recoil, muzzle rise by improving the entire barrel.
This improvement runs $255 here is the info.

By the way I have an 870 that I will be sending to vang to be taken care of I will let ya know how it turns out. Sometime around the end of Oct. early Nov.

mine stuck on cheap low brass, never on anything HD related.

it worked fine on Rem brand cheap low brass birdshot, a $1 more per 100 than the cheapest cheap shells.
Am I a good shot!?!, YEAH I'M A GOOD SHOT!....i just got bad aim
