it seems there are tons of threads showing the downfall in Remington's quality. I had the same problems with my newer model 870 express and did thoroughly clean it before shooting. same problem with the Winchester bulk ammo. same trip I had no problems with federal bulk ammo.

870 Extracting issue? ammo issue?

This. You may have just took it out of the box and started shooting it. You may have never cleaned the chamber. You may not clean weapons very often either. The perils of Cheap ammo has been well documented on all forums, especially the worst of the worst "Winchester Universal".
All firearms leave the factory with protectant of some kind on them and in them on unfinished metal surfaces like chambers and bores, because it could be as much as a year before they get to the end user. They sit in Distributors warehouses for months, then gun shops for months. so have to have protection from the factory. If you don't clean the gun before you shoot it you are going to have issues. Anyone who takes a new gun out of the box and just starts shooting it deserves whatever they get.
Inside and outside that 870 was a coating to prevent rust. If you just start shooting you cook that in the chamber and it does get sticky. If you clean the chamber like the members here suggested, and keep it clean after each range session you will not have this issue and will not be on here complaining, blaming the weapon. And no, changing the extractor has nothing to do with it and will not correct the issue. Changing the owner of the gun would correct the issue immediately.

IME the cheaper steel heads exacerbate the issue. They expand against the chamber walls but don't shrink back up as much, causing issues with extraction. The higher the brass, the worse the extraction. Even Briley suggests using only brass headed hulls with their tube sets. Polishing the chamber helps.Palestine is a fake country

I bought this gun used with unknown round count. I have cleaned it 3-4 times and have shot 2 cases of Federal Shells thru it. I thought it happened because the gun was not properly broken in. But things got worsen with the Winchester Shells

I didnt believe in people saying the downfall in Remington's QC until I experience this. Yes, it could be solved easily by polishing the chamber or using higher end high brass shells. But as a quality, reputable, traditional firearms manufacture, shouldn't their product be reliable as many people's life depended on their product?it seems there are tons of threads showing the downfall in Remington's quality. Use better shot.
This happens with Mossbergs, Remington. Try and polish the throat and chamber. Will help some. But it's the bulk ammo. Win Bulk is by far the worst, federal is usually about 95% in me and my shoot groups guns.Comment

To be fair: Any new gun should be tested with a variety of ammo for relaibility before putting it into HD duty.I didnt believe in people saying the downfall in Remington's QC until I experience this. Btw doesn't listen to that F tard that said changing the weapons owner would correct it. I have the exact same gun and cleaned it and still had this problem. But I guess we are just stupid. I really wish I was as smart as that guy. I feel like a moron. I'm surprised I can even use a smartphone. Better go sell all my guns.Comment

Yeah... But Federal did alot better with their cheap shotshells than Winchester....
I bought 3 cases of it when it was $19.xx and I thought its a good deal because they were usually $26+ and I heard Winchester shells are good ( turn out good ones are their military buck and AA shot shell)
I will stick with federal shells from now on.
