Hello folks I have been browsing around the shotguns lately and recently have been wanting to add one to my collection. I was curious about a shotgun I saw on a site and decided to look it up. Was wondering has anyone heard of or owned one of these?

LOL. It's not a "shotgun". It's a 12g smoothbored unconventional handgun that is considered an "AOW" by ATF and treated almost the same as a machine gun. You would have to jump through some hoops to get one in CA but, it can be done. Once you invest a few hundred dollars and a lot of time, you will be able to purchase one. Then, it will sit at the dealer's for 6 months to a year before the Feds approve the transfer. Do you really want to invest all that time and money into a novelty that isn't fun to shoot on a regular basis? Yes, I have handled them and shot a few. In the end, I'd get a KEG-12 over a Super Shorty because, it's a better design.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Also, note that even though it is a Title 2 AOW, CA also classifies it as a "handgun".
Since it is not on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale, it is modified into a dimensionally compliant pump-action single-shot pistol so that it can be transferred by a CA FFL dealer to a non-exempt person.
However, recent legislation was signed into law that modifies the single-shot pistol exemption so that pump-action single-shot pistols no longer meet the requirements for the single-shot pistol exemption.
Since the single-shot pistol exemption change goes into effect on 01-01-2015 and the fact that it is taking BATFE a average of nine months to approve a Form 4; if you submitted your completed Form 4 application today, there is not enough time left to get Serbu Super-Shorty AOW transferred to you.sigpic

It takes money and time (6 months or more) to buy one of those wrist breakers. IMO its not worth it.best troll thread in calguns history

I just read the text and don't agree. While it never mentions lever action or pump action handguns specifically, it also does not say that they can not be temporarily converted to single shot and then be converted back.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

I'd want one as long as it didn't cost a ton to obtain it legally. I know it's pretty impractical for your everyday shooting but it'd be a neat gun to stash somewhere in the house for last ditch HD. I'd even consider using it as a primary.Truckers make the world go 'round!

But, you would need to convert it to a break open barrel single-shot pistol or bolt-action single-shot pistol.
Not sure, how you can convert a lever-action or pump-action into a break open barrel or bolt-action.

You can always build one. Buy an old Remy 870 for the parts and pick up a virgin receiver. The tax stamp for making one is 200$ while the transfer stamp is only 5$. There is only a few mods needed to make them work. Some welding and some metal work and your good.
Way less work then a saiga 12 AOW.There are 3 kinds of people in this world.

The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

I don't see where it says you can't convert a non semi auto action to a SS configuration. Sure, the law mentions bolt and break action but, it does not prohibit other manual actions from being converted.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

How do they typically convert the Serbu's to single-shot? Block the mag somehow? Modify it? There's got to be a way. If we can build nuclear bombs we can do this... unless there simply isn't enough interest to do so.Truckers make the world go 'round!
