I have nothing to back up, I never stated a fact, I said it was conceivable that there is a Walmart line of ammo that uses inferior components. I proceeded to list what those inferior components might be. If anyone is stating a fact it is you when you flatly called BS on my speculation.

You seem to care, so have fun cutting open shells. My curiosity is not piqued enough to do so.

They don't directly control how things are made, but they CAN say to the manufacturer (of anything) "If you want us to present your product to the 20 million people per day that shop at Walmart, and want us to sell it, then reduce the current wholesale price by 5%" or similar. The manufacturers drool at the thought of having Walmart sell their product over someone elses and the sheer wholesale volume...so they might cut corners to meet Walmart's price demands.

Almost every ammo brand has different "levels" of quality. This is why you have different pricing levels. Now Walmart does sell quality as well. Their prices on premium ammo is on par with most other retailers. Fact is, I can usually buy cheaper on line (premium ammo). Walmarts buying power does have something to do with it for sure. The difference in price of Winchester/Remington 100 packs vs any other load they sell is dramatic to say the least. Why? QUALITY!

The price per box at the case price (10 boxes per case) I used to pay for Federal Top Gun loads was very comparable to what WM was charging for Federal 4 box value packs. I assume it was the same stuff. Visually they were identical.
