    title says it all.

when i pump the shotgun the previous round gets stuck in the gun and wont pop out like its suppose too. it does this randomly like every 2 or three rounds. this gun right now is not reliable if SHTF. whats going on here and how do i fix it? do i have to take it to a gunsmith? if so, how much would a gunsmith charge for this

Replace the mims extractor with a machined one. I believe you will find a video on how to do it on youtube. It is easy. At the same time replace the extractor spring. Together they will run about $22.

The issue is most likely the ammo, cheap steel hull case, correct. The worst is Winchester Universal. Also, chambers need to be cleaned even on the new gun because there is a protectant in there. Go to my web site www.aiptactical.com and click on the red link "Install and Cleaning" make a rod like that and spin it in that chamber per the instuctions and your issue is over if you are using a little better ammo.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

I had the same issue with mine but only with Winchester Universal.
I switched out the extractor and have not had any more problems.

Cool to do that but has nothing to do with his issue unless he has an old used gun and the extractor plunger spring is very old. The solid steel extractor does not improve extraction in any way over the MIM.

I had the same problem with cheap Winchester Big 5 crap trap and game load. The white and red box with the solver shell.

Switched to brass Remington with no problems.

Also are you racking right after the shot or waiting. I find if i wait to rack it makes the problem worse

Do the mim and you must polish chamber its a very common problem with the newer 870s after that it will not happen again with any ammo

There is one issue which you can experience with Remington 870. It is called "sticky chamber or a "rough chamber". It happens often with cheap ammo. And you need to polish the chamber to be able to use any ammo you want. I have posted instructions on how to polish the Remington 870 chamber some

I had the same problem with mine right out of the box. Changed out my extractor for the non MIM extractor and also polished my chamber by putting steel wool over the wire bore brush, and using the drill on the other end of the cleaning rod. Ran it for a few min and next time out the shells went flying out and had no jams with the same cheap winchester ammo.

Polish chamber with 000 steel wool or use a flex hone. Flex hone only takes six passes and you are done. Also look for the 870 bump, this issue has been discussed on shotgunworld and on youtube.

When my 870 did the same thing I contacted Remington. They referred me to a gunshop/service center locally that was able to polish it for no charge to me. Problem free ever since.
