    887 nitro mag

Any thoughts on this shotgun i have seem to have alot of problems with it,
double feeds all the time really frustrated with it. Called Reminghton and they
are going to send me a new trigger assy. The only reason i bought it was the
fact it had the coating on it.

    PS should have bought 870.

I could never get mine to go BANG.
Light strikes. Called Remington and the warranty was out by 2 months.
They sent me a new trigger assemble anyway.
I put it in but haven't shot it yet

The 887 Nitro mag, sad to say, is a big giant POS.

I bought one new that broke after 16 rounds. The action locked up and would not budge. I bought it because I liked the look, comfort tech stock and the hi viz bead. I sent it back to Remington and had them replace it with an 870 super mag with the comfort tech stock and the hi viz bead at no extra charge.

If this gun is so bad. Why would you want an 870?

That may be one of the most pointless questions I have ever read on a blog. The 887 is nothing like the 870 so you can not compare a horse apple and an apple ( for you city boys, a horse apple is what comes out the back end of the horse).

The 887 was an attempt to get into the market share that the Nova was taking away. If was a big flop and dismal failure. However, Freedom Group compounded the issue by saying, we know, we will put a bunch of tacti-fool mess on it and call it the 887 Tactical cause those guys will buy anything.

The warnings about this weapon in either form have been out there since the weapon came out. Freedom Group has done nothing to fix these issues and has put a blight on the Remington name. Only good news is Freedom Group is for sale and the hope is the new owners return to the quality we have come to expect from Remington, Marlin and the other compaines these clowns have damaged.

A good buddy of mine called me up while he was looking at an 887.

He asked me what I thought about it, and I gave him my honest opinion based on my one and only experience with this shotgun.

He didn't listen, and bought it anyway.

Two weeks later he called me up again, complaining about his new piece of junk.

I laughed and said, "TOLD YA!!!"

Is it just me, or does the 887 bolt and trigger group look VERY similar to the supernova/nova?

Speaking of which, looks like the versamax also looks alot like Benelli.

HOLY MOLY, the versamax internally looks EXACTLY like a Benelli (except for that 7-port pot thingy, but even then WOW)

Buddy bought one, loved the feel of it, but it sucked!
Jammed, light primer strikes, broken ejector or some other part. Sent to Remington multiple times.
                          He finally sold it.

You're right. I take it back!

I have a Marlin I love, and the 870 looks like a great gun.

I was just surprised to read such bad review of the 887.

Always remember, the 887 is NOT the 870. Even diehard Mossberg guys will be hard pressed to tell you something bad about the 870 and if they try, they're trolls.

Shotguns come in two models... 870's and everything else. I was given my first 870 express when I was 10 years old. It has NEVER failed me. You can still pick 870's and 590's up for decent prices so don't settle on some nasty @$$ Turkish-Chinese copy.
