    Inexpensive Pump Shotgun

I'm just curious if any of you have any experience with any of these inexpensive shotguns:

    SAR Arms: http://eaacorp.com/portfolio-item/sar-pump-action-sp/

    ASI: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...6/Shotguns/ASI

    Maverick: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...+12+20+CYL+8RD

I read about the SAR shotguns in the latest American Handgunner and they were impressed with them and I've really liked what I've seen coming out of Turkey recently (including my CZ Ringneck).

Been seeing the ASI (Bud's Gun Shop brand) advertised recently for cheap but I can't seem to find a lot of info on them or where they are made.

Big 5 had that Maverick on Sale for $210 a week ago. I know it is basically a Mossberg 500 with cheaper parts.

I'm just looking for something that works, but doesn't necessarily look pretty, and if it gets beat up I'm not going to care.

    Thanks!

Never heard anything bad about the mavericks. I don't own one but I have a couple friends who have had a Mav 88 for around 5 years and ran over 1K shells through it with no problems

of the 3 i think a Maverick would be the best, but you can get a mossy from buds for just a few bucks more.
This listing is for one shotgun with 2 different stocks.  Photo shows shotgun in both configurations. Mossberg 50515 12 Gauge 18" Cylinder Bo

Based upon how long a gun lasts and how much you spend in ammo, step up to the Big 5 Mossberg 500 sporting combo.

Around $325 gets you the Mossberg 500 and 2 barrels- 18" and 28"

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

the only problem with the big 5 combo is the fixed foreend. if you want to replace it you will need a new tube and action bars.

I have the maverick 88 20 inch 'security' model. It is a good gun. BIG5 sells them a couple times a year on sale. I got mine for 265 out the door.

It's not ideal for modification since there's cost-saving measures such as a sealed mag tube, no sling swivels or drill and tap for scope mount. but if you keep it stock or near stock it will work out great.

Try doing a search for IAC Hawk 982 it's a clone Remington 870 that'[s extremely well made.

I had a Maverick. It's a fine shotgun. I sold it cause I prefer my 870. I think it'll do you fine. The lop is a little long, so it's best to go to a gunshop and handle it before deciding.

Just asked my 79 year old dad out of the 3 which one, and he says my first shotgun was a Maverick if that means much. At the price point, and if your set on not spending much more, he said it would work fine for an inexpensive shotgun

I bought the SAR for HD and love it. For HD I strongly recommend professional training as it's not as easy to clear a room or the house as it is with a hand gun.

For the price, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for all the info guys. Keep anything coming if you have more info or opinions.

I should note I have a Benelli Nova Tactical as my house gun. Just looking for something that I can shoot and not worry about and these low prices and the article in AH caught my eye.

Depends what your using it for since you have a nova please elaborate. I think we have been giving you options considering you were gonna use it for HD if not the combo is indeed the best deal.

Local shop here in WI has Mossberg 500's for $254 and Remington 870 Express' for $299. I'd spend the few extra bucks on something like this.
