Another question... when using the saiga 12 do you have to adjust the gas system to feed birdshot?

Its meant to be used at close range.. 10-25 yards.. Since these guns mostly don't run a choke. Where your spread is between 5-18 inches with 00 buck.. Anything after that they are just fine for slugs..

From what I remember.

Theres a "V" and 3 peeps set from 200-400 yards.

Not sure how the 200+ yard peep sights are useful on a shotgun...

Many of them, like mine, don't work well with birdshot. CSS makes a reliability kit that allows birdshot to be cycled properly, I haven't used it yet because I'm short on cash at the moment.

Is it difficult to adjust for? Or is it simply flipping a switch?? Is it something you could do in the field or at the range? Or do you have to take apart any components of the gun?

No it still needs to be adjusted, you just rotate the front portion, however the reliability kit adds 2 more setting I believe.

Tac 47 auto plug for me all the way..takes a little bit to get it "tuned". Love it.. My saiga eats anything without a hiccup.. A bayonet lug is also very handy in case u run out of ammo or...

You depress the pin and rotate, I use a knife. It can be done with almost anything rigid.

Yes, but understand that Saiga's were never ment to run on cheap weak low brass ammo.

No, the reliability kit is a bandaid on a badly tuned gun.

You don't need a reliability kit of you know what your doing. All the aftermarket stuff are quick fixes for guns that just need to be worked over to run great. Too many times I've had people bring me a Saiga 12 that has tons of aftermarket crap on it and still won't run. First thing is to eliminate one thing at a time and work from there, but instead of doing that, they throw 300$ of crap and then bring it to me. When I hand them a little baggy with that stuff and tell them their gun will run with the stock parts they get upset. Fix the gun, don't put a bandaid on it.

I LOVE my S12 - converted fully with scary muzzle break and it gets all the right attention at the range. I upgraded the gas port and got the MD arms parts so mine kicks a bit more than others but it cycles everything (even the walmart low brass target loads)

I got mine for the same 1300 others got theirs for before the Gun Ban craze

Get a Vepr 12 from Atlantic Firearms instead. Much better build quality than a Saiga 12.

So when you do this you don't have to "re-zero" it like you would I was an optic or anything else that requires "tunning"?
