Saiga 12

Hey guys,

What do you guys think of the saiga 12 gauge out there right now? Are most people happy with them? Do most people keep them long term? Or are they more of a novelty gun? Any opinions on them?

Also what is a good price on them these days?

I love mine, I've had it for about a year. I use it for home defense. I couldn't be happier with it.

ETA: I payed about 1300 for mine. It was just before all the panic buying.

i love mine too.love taking it out everyone around start to smile when i pull it out the bag. i have the most fun letting other people shot it for the first time. i paid 1200 for it 1 1/2 -2 years ago

The going rate for a bone stock IZ109 is about 700 - 800.

I can honestly tell you that you will not leave it alone. Its about as bad as getting a bone stock AR. You will be constantly looking to add things to it.

First and formost will be the conversion. However, you can pay more and get one that is already converted.

I see them for $1000 unconverted and $1400 converted. They seem nice but I know some folks that paid $600 for theirs a year or so ago. Can't justify that unless it is a Vepr 12. Even then it is still too expensive.

Converted ones were always around 1100 + in cali. I got mine in 2008 and paid about 1200 before I upgraded it. The Vepr 12 is its own beast, but it doesn't take drum mags.

The only quirk is learning to change the mag.

You need to compress the front of the top shell into the mag and then you hook the front of the mag and rock it in as normal.

The mag lock on the AK platform is awkward at best.

They were on sale at Turners for 799 a couple of weeks back. Store clerk said they were sold out within the first day.

Convert it yourself. Its not hard and CSS has all the videos to help.

You can convert one for as little as $150 in parts.

Its not an issue if you have the bolt and carrier profiled and polished.
