Being a saltwater fishing guy I use Boeshield or Corrosion X on all my reels AND guns as a light exterior finish coat before placing them back into the safe. As for the stock I just wipe it down with normal gun oil.

So speaking of which... I'm doing research on how to keep/maintain a blued gun.

Got any suggestions for me? How about the wood stock, how to treat/maintain that?

    Thanks,BC

Thanks for the tips fellas. Turns out I had a small bottle of Rem Oil in my cleaning bag, soaked up a clean rag, wiped her down, and stored it in a ziplock.

As someone else said, Corrosion X is good- you can almost watch it soak in.

As for the wood stock, it looks great now. I would not do much but wipe it down after use. If you really want to protect it, you can get involved with stuff from "Birchwood Casey" and apply a satin finish to it. That seems too slippery to me.
If you get involved with adding a finish like Tru-Oil, then a light sanding with 320-400 is recommended; then you add the number of coats you want. I think some would add Carnauba? wax instead...and leave original finish alone.
