Why would anyone who's a shooter want one of these things? I owned one and sold it because it's a heavy shotgun with more show than go.
1. It's front heavy with the manual/auto selection forearm. Shoot a Remington 1100 with a 3 lb weight bolted to the front of the magazine cap and that's what felt like.
2. It didn't have a magazine cutoff so when you went from semiauto to manual, cycling the action will release a shell from the magazine that you'll have to dump out of the action to insert the shell you want. There was no reason to have the auto/manual selection because it didn't cut off the magazine feed. For instance, you went through a 3-gun stage and loaded all slugs into the magazine and selectively loaded one birdshot manually for a clay bird target, having a magazine cutoff when you switched to manual mode would be exactly what you needed. The SPAS didn't have this feature.
3. It was expensive back in the late 1980s, more than the gun was worth to a shooter. This was a show gun for those who wanted something to look tactical and not for someone who wanted to actually use it for practical shooting.
