Both my mossbergs have full tubes of low recoil 00Buck with an empty chamber. I live in a very crowded area but most angles of fire would require passing through my stucco wall to get outside my building.
    I don't know if I'm overpowered or not but I don't think I'm underpowered.
How does stucco do containing or slowing down LR 00 Buck?

That 15% is the part which you can't rely will never happen. Something I learn from force-on-force is plan A always changes to B, C, D etc..

Double ought buck for me. If I can't hit 'em with buckshot I sure won't hit 'em with a slug.

As for the three inch. I shot a box of 3" through my Mossberg with a pistol grip on it about 30 years ago. My hand is still sore. Even though I'm a "big" girl and can handle a .44 with no trouble, the 3" buck rounds were... memorable. I don't think I could control the gun as effectively as with standard loads and I think at self defense distances it's not really going to matter.

At my house in AZ we have a "Judge" as the bedroom gun. Personally I prefer the Judge over the 12ga for in home use. Some people will argue ballistics and while it might not work as well where it's cold and someone might be wearing a "Pea Coat" and multiple layers of clothes and penetration at a distance might be uncertain - all I know is that PDX disc rounds at 20-25 feet will blow about a 2 inch hole in a piece of 3/4 roofing plywood - that's good enough for me inside my house.

Rio 00 buck....Get hits, don't miss. Everyone seems to base their SG defensive load on missing and the damage that can be done when they miss. That is called a self-fullfiling prophecy.
The OP states he has 85% free fire zone so the 15% needs to be considered as modified or a NO fire zone, simple. Use effective ammunition. Number 4 buck and larger. Slugs....might as well use a rifle indoors.
Birdshot and less lethal have no place in a home defense scenarios. Period

I load 9 rnds of #4 Buck and forget about it.
