Sorry for the confusion. This is in the order I load so the Dragon's Breath is my last round.

If I have successfully defended my home, this will be to light up any remaining invaders as they are fleeing so that the Police can find them easier in the dark.

          Or

If things haven't gone so well for me I can use it to light my house on fire in hopes that I can take any remaining invaders down with me.

In response to the 3" being overkill...If things are to the point that I must use my shotgun/rifle to defend lives inside my house, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OVERKILL. If that point of no return is unfortunately ever reached, it is me, or the crook. I would feel more comfortable having 15 copper plated 9mm 00 buck pellets defending me, than I would 8 or 9. Would a 2 3/4 get the job done? Probably, but I am not one to leave my life, or the lives of my family in chance when there is a reasonable and effective round that can outperform. Unless they have wings, I would only use birdshot when I ran out of all my 00 buck and slug rounds...and that would take a while.

I dont think its about "Overkill" its about hitting the target multiple time to stop the threat. With 3" shells your follow up shot will be slighly slower and that can mean life or death.

Like anything else, I rather have a 9mm with 29 rounds then a 44mag with 5 shot. Same in this situation. I rather have 8 shot that I can aim then 8 shots I will be shooting the ceiling with..

It all comes down to training. I have a large frame and can fire 3" fairly rapidly with good accuracy. I wouldn't use it if I couldn't use it effectively! But like I said, if the perp is a tweaked out meth-head, superficial wounds are just gonna piss em off more!

Theres a reason handguns need to achieve at least 12 inches of penetration to be considered Law Enforcement against human targets. Gotta be able to reach out (in) and touch the critical areas like the CNC and vitals.

As I said previously, 85% of likely scenarios in which a shot would be fired, I would be angled to a hillside in between my house and my neighbors house, or the hillside in my backyard. Angling the shot is also another technique that I practive, to have the shot go downward in case of miss, or up to avoid it. I am well aware of the risks on all tactics that I would *hopefully never have to* employ.
