    mossberg 500 help

i am running into a problem trying to get a stock to fit on my new mossberg 500. when i tighten the screw down the stock does not fit flush with the receiver. there is always a gap between the two. what is causing this problem and how do i fix it. the stock is a new blackhawk knoxx top folder. i really want this stock to work because i cannot find another folding stock that matches the quality of the knoxx but cant use it till i figure out what the problem is here is a pic of the gap that is left between the receiver and stock.

Is the stock for the Mossberg 500 and is it also for the same caliber? 12 gauge, 20 gauge etc?

Is there an extra washer on the bolt that doesn't need to be there? Check inside threading of stock and make sure there's no obstructions or flakes of plastic from tooling.

I know the hogue pistol grip stocks don't look like they'll even fit until you tighten them properly then they mold to the gun. First time I went to put it on I had an extra washer I had to take off to fit it snugly.

there is nothing in the way of the bolt. i tried another stock made by mossberg that came with my 590 and it fit great. i think i will just send it back. i am tired of messing with it.

Yeah sounds defective to me if it just simply won't fit snug and there's no deformations etc.

I ran into a similar problem (after I installed the GG&G sling loop). I ground down about a millimeter off of the Knoxx stock's mounting alignment ring. Worked like a charm. Take it apart and look at it and you will see what I mean.
