The NRA: Gets bashed by anti Gunners for doing too much, gets bashed by pro Gunners for not doing enough. However things turn out, apparently it's the NRA's fault.

**** the NRA. All they do is send me spam mail and phone calls. They don't do anything for our gun rights here in California. I'm not giving them another cent.

NRA Does Plenty in CA
Quote:
California is the only state the NRA dedicates a full time lobbyist to. It has other employees who have accomplished all of this (and much more that oftentimes cannot be discussed publicly): http://213ajq29v6vk19b76q3534cx.wpen...irs-Report.pdf And they have lawyers doing all of this: http://213ajq29v6vk19b76q3534cx.wpen...-June-2016.pdf And here is an older report on things NRA has done in CA: http://www.calgunlaws.com/wp-content...ers-Report.pdf This is not to mention that NRA donated the maximum allowed under law to the campaign to oppose Gavin Newsom's initiative (have you donated yet?): http://www.stoptheammograb.com/ And just standby for much more in the near future that NRA and CRPA will be doing jointly. NRA spends more money in CA than it takes in from here. Please stop spreading misinformation. |

^Thank you for that post.
I am focusing my dollars TO the NRA. In the past I've spread my donations all over, but some education, learning experiences, and reflection have caused me to rethink that and focus on the NRA /NRA-ILA. Even Kes recommends donating to the NRA and others before this board. PS - it's not just the money either - how many actually called/ wrote their legislators? Wonder how many here even vote? |

I blame all the gun owners that voted for Jerry Jr. and a host of other anti gun politicians.

Bloomberg and Newsom send their thanks. People like you are exactly what they are counting on. Why do you think they are working so hard to demonize the NRA if the NRA is so ineffective?

Yep. Every gun owner in this state that contributes to or votes for a Democrat is responsible for these anti gun laws.

On a federal level, the NRA have spread influence and paid for campaigns to sway voters into electing conservatives, who they keep in line by threat of replacement.
In California that tactic holds no weight because by majority, the voters are liberal and aren't swayed by conservative campaign ads. There aren't a significant enough number of conservatives in the California legislature to b-slap, and the NRA have no leverage over liberals who have a strangle hold on Sacramento. It's not the NRA's fault, it's your Aunt's fault.

This bears repeating for all the misinformed NRA Bashers....
Quote:
The Anti NRA posts show a willful ignorance of reality... They expect miracles from their minuscule $25/$40 yearly membership fee, when Bloombergs Billionaire Boys Club drops MILLIONS of dollars into assorted Anti Gun causes, and they often out spend us by huge margins. Then to compound this hugely unrealistic expectation, they often don't realize that they also need to donate to the NRA-ILA, which does the Actual heavy lifting in the Political and Legal arenas. Just being a NRA member without donating to NRA-ILA is the equivalent of buying a Rifle without purchasing any ammunition for it... Best way to get back at these Anti Rights, Anti Self Defense, Anti Gun Zealots, is to: Join The NRA... https://joinnra.nra.org/join/join.aspx Then Donate to the NRA-ILA... https://www.nraila.org/donate/ Noble |

Being at one time an NRA-ILA grassroots chapter president, you have to carefully choose what battles you fight with the very limited resources that you have. Years ago I was able to talk and reason with politicians in the capital, that is harder to do with the loons in the capital. I don't depend on the NRA, I depend on myself to write letters, send e-mails, and phone even when it looks like I'm talking to the wall. I don't want them to come back and say they didn't get opposition to their anti-gun bills

If California Gun Owners would follow your example, we could fight back a lot more effectively against the Horde of Anti-Rights, Anti-Gun Democrats shoving Unconstitutional laws down our throats Every Single Year. Unfortunately, most California Gun Owners can't even be bothered to stay informed about the steady "Death by a Thousand Cuts" campaign designed by the Democrats to Nullify the 2nd Amendment out of existence. Many Calif Gun Owners continue to Support and Vote for the ANTI-Gun, Democrat Party, then have the audacity and doltishness to Complain About the NRA Not Doing Enough !!!! Thank You for your efforts, javalos ... Noble |

I am an NRA member and I donate to the NRA-ILA. The NRA is the main lobby/voice for gun owners, and if we didn't have them, I am certain that the radical Left would have repealed or at least legislated away the 2nd Amendment already.
To all the gun owners who complain about the NRA, I pose a question - Why do you suppose that Obama complains about the NRA so vehemently? It is because they are a major thorn in his side, as their efforts, at least on a national level are effective in keeping the Left from stripping us of our natural born rights. So please, support the NRA. Get involved, donate as you are able. Also take initiative to learn the issues, why we have the Second Amendment, who is trying to destroy it and why. Then talk to people about it. You'd be surprised at how may non-gun owners actually support the right to bear arms when they understand what is at stake. It is up to us - if we don't defend our rights, we will have them taken from us, little by little. The NRA is most certainly our ally in this fight. |
