Hmmm....I know a few ranges will allow slugs
But I've never found a range that'll allow shots, which is understandable since it'll eat their wooden target frames up pretty fast.

Regarding California, coming from Texas, I love to hate it

However, one hour to the beach or 30 minutes race to 7000ft elevation. Kinda hard to beat that combo with a temperate valley in between.

I can live anywhere, but for right now, that keeps me here Can't let one thing make you move cause there are all the other good things to balance it out. Irritating though it may be.
Yeah, the weather and topography is wonderful but the traffic, cost of living, etc. isn't.

The SLP fires really well, feels solid and I got it for a great price.

Have you had any trouble shooting low recoil tactical buck in your SLP? When I first got mine it was short stroking a lot so I took it apart and polished the fitting at the end of the spring that rides in the receiver extension and now it runs like a champ. I like the fact that I can't outrun the gun when I double tap it like I can with my 1187 and my M4.

Anyone up for a Bay Area shotgun range day?

I just ordered that type of ammo, so will see next week if I run into that problem. If I do, thanks for the tip.

SLP covers all of my shotgun needs/interest for now. Though I was within a hairs breadth of the M4...

Working from home and travel to airports tends to eliminate the traffic issue Also able to live further out where housing is more reasonable. Still not reasonable per TX standards.

Only familiar with MPK, SJ area, housing cost is pretty bad there with some around $1000/sq and higher. SoCal area, out aways, can be $200/sf...

Do you use 1 1/8 oz?

Yes, I have. I'll have to try that and see what happens.

I'd be happy to do a shotgun day but it doesn't sound like there's alot of shotgun enthusiasts on CGN.

I am! Basic Mossy 500 Big 5 special. 20" bbl, 7 shot, pump action, bare bones, fiber-optic bead. Goes boom every time. I'll hit whatever I aim at, it's my go-to long gun. Too bad I have no time for a trip to the bay area for fun shooting, I'd be willing to go this time next year though.

There's plenty of Calgunners with tactical shotguns, just nowhere to shoot it like it should be shot except out in the BLMs (which is a pain to get to sometimes).
That's why I also got a wingmaster to get my shotgun fix by busting clays (good luck hitting flying clays with the fixed choke on my M4).

How about going to Chabot during a 3gun shotgun match. Some plink afterwards, using the stages or steel already set up...

I'm all over the 3gun down at Chabot as soon as I find the elusive rifle stock (no pistal grip) for my Benelli 1014......sigh.

A few more things to check are that you are using the light load gas fitting and that the inside of the receiver is clean and well lubed. I also left my SLP with the bolt locked back for a couple of weeks to compress the spring a bit.

Perhaps, although I'm more of a loaner when it comes to my shooting. But if there is one, I prefer Field Sports Park (Metcalf), Santa Clara Co.
