Have not purchased any shotguns of late. I have a Remington 870 from forty years ago on which I installed a Remington riot barrel and a Remington magazine extension tube. All purchased long ago. I like it but word on the street is, Remington shotguns ain't what they used to be. So, someone I know was asking "hey I would like to buy a shotgun for home defense." Hence the conversation with the LGS employee.
His recommendation was this Mossberg. Apparently it does come with the bayonette. Thick-walled barrel, steel receiver, what's not to like? Their price is about 20% less than MSRP, just under $900. Can I tell this person this Mossberg choice is blessed by the collective CG wisdom? The only Mossbergs I have ever fired was a 1940s-era M144 .22 rifle. Thanks in advance for all helpful replies.
